Jharkhand – NIA Arrests an Absconding CPI(Maoist) Terrorist

NIA arrested an absconding accused viz. Singhrai Soren, aged about 55 Years, s/o Late Chaman Soren, r/o village Akbakitand, PS Dumri, district- Giridih, Jharkhand in a case pertaining to seizure of arms and ammunition from CPI (Maoists) in Giridih District of Jharkhand. The arrested accused is being produced before the Special NIA Court, Ranchi.

The instant case pertains to the seizure of huge cache of arms and ammunition and arrest of 15 armed cadres of CPI (Maoist) at Akbakitand village, District Giridih, Jharkhand. A case was registered in this regard on 6.3.2018 at Dumri PS, District Giridih, Jharkhand. Subsequently, NIA had re-registered the said case on 09.05.2018 and taken over the investigation of the case.

Investigation has established that accused Singhrai Soren, an armed cadre of CPI (Maoist), a proscribed terrorist organization, had criminally conspired with other members of CPI (Maoist) with the intention to promote their terrorist activities. He was also regularly harbouring the cadres of CPI (Maoist) at his residential premises and was also instrumental in concealing prohibited arms and ammunition and explosives substances.

NIA had filed Charge-sheet against 10 accused persons, including Singhrai Soren, on 31.8.2018 and another Supplementary Charge-sheet against 07 accused persons on 08.01.19 in the instant case. After completion of proceedings u/s 83 of Cr.PC against Singhrai Soren, an NBW was issued against him. NIA had also announced a cash reward of Rs.50,000/- for providing information leading to his apprehension.
