The Kerala High Court Friday quashed the FIRs against the Enforcement Directorate officials in the infamous Kerala gold smuggling case.
The Kerala police had alleged in the FIRs that the officials of the ED had coerced the main accused in the case, Swapna Suresh, to give statements against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The police had also alleged that the evidence was fabricated to implicate the chief minister.
The court had reserved the judgment on April 9.
The court directed the aggrieved party to move to the special court for any remedy.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had argued that if local police is allowed to register FIR against ED, NIA etc, it would not be possible to carry out an impartial probe. It would also go against the spirit of cooperative federalism.
