A top Chinese health official Saturday admitted Chinese vaccines against Covid-19 are not very effective.
Gao Fu, head of the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, was speaking in a conference in the southwestern city of Chengdu.
He also said other methods must be looked into to check the spread of the virus.
Chinese vaccines are used in more than 70 countries around the world.
Chile has been aggressively vaccinating its people using Chinese vaccines. And, has administered vaccines to about half of its population.
But, recently, the number of positive cases has again started rising in Chile.
Some of the Chinese vaccines have been found to have an efficiency of only 50 per cent.
China, which had already vaccinated 160 million of its population, was considering using different jabs now, said Gao.
