The Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the site today in Chhattisgarh where the encounter between Naxals and security forces took place.

Twenty-two brave jawans were martyred in the ambush. More than 30 jawans are injured and getting treatment in various hospitals in Raipur.

It will be a first visit by any Home Minister in the Naxal heartland.

The Home Minister will take stock of the situation on the ground and also see the injured jawans in Raipur. He is also expected to meet the family members of the martyred jawans.

The visit has been kept tight to ensure the officers on the ground are not distracted because of the visit of the Union Home Minister.

The security forces had got the intelligence input that Naxal commander Hidma was in the Sukma-Bijapur area. A massive operation was launched to hunt down Hidma.

One of the parties involved in the operation was ambushed by about 400Naxals.

They also looted the arms and ammunition of the jawans.
