The United States of America Tuesday urged China to be more transparent in sharing information about the origin and spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The State Department of the US released a joint statement of the Governments of the United States of America, Australia, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, the Republic of Korea, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom.

The statement said the countries expressed their concern over the delay in preparing and releasing the report.
The Chinese authorities had denied the visiting WHO team access to the primary sources of the origin and spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The team, which was in China for about a month, returned with their studies based on secondary sources.

The statement urged that such important studies should face no government obstruction. It also expressed concern that phase 2 of the study would not face any such problems.
