British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to visit Chennai during his Bharat visit at the end of next month.
News agency ANI reported his visit to Chennai has been finalised and the schedule is being worked out.
Johnson was to visit Bharat for the Republic Day celebrations this year. But his visit was cancelled at the very last moment in wake of the rising cases of Covid-19 in the UK.
Advance teams from the UK are expected to visit Chennai soon to take stock of the situation.
In a major announcement recently, the British Prime Minister had said the UK would be tilting its focus towards the Indo-Pacific region.
Many high-level engagements are scheduled between the two countries for the year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a special invitee for the G7 summit in June in the UK.
