A bench of Justices S S Shinde and Manish Pitale of the Bombay High Court Wednesday asked the Mumbai Police why they haven’t named Arnab Goswami and the Republic TV as accused in the case if they have sufficient evidence.

The High Court said, “You are investigating for the last three months. There are two charge sheets, and there seems to be no evidence against them. And this FIR is of October 2020. We are in March 2021.”

The court also asked the Special Public Prosecutor to inform it in a day if the police planned to proceed against Goswami and the Republic TV in the TRP Scam case.

Arnab Goswami is the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV, Republic Bharat and Republic Bangla.

Goswami has alleged he and his organisation is being targeted by the Maharashtra government for Sushant Singh Rajput and Palghar lynching stories.

Sushant Singh Rajput allegedly committed suicide in his flat in Mumbai. There were allegations of a cover-up by the Maharashtra government. In Palghar, two Sadhus were lynched by a mob in the presence of police personnel.

The police were accused of inaction in the case.

The Republic network relentlessly pursued both the stories.
