155 illegal Rohingya Muslim infiltrators from Myanmar, who were living in Jammu and Kashmir were on Saturday sent to a ‘holding centre’, under section 3(2)e of the Foreigners Act. The infiltrators were not holding valid travel documents required under section (3) of the Passports Act.

Jammu and Kashmir administration is collecting biometric and other details of Rohingyas staying in Jammu and the exercise of identifying more such immigrants is going on the officials said.

“After sending them to the holding centres, nationality verification will be done as per the prescribed process,” the official added, saying that on the basis of this, the procedure for deportation will be initiated.

There are reports of more than 13,700 foreigners, including Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis, illegally settling in Jammu and Samba districts.
