Dr Mohan Bhagwat at volunteers meet, in Prayagraj, recently
Prayagraj: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat has asserted that volunteers will now have to make all-out efforts while working for Holy Ganga because the mammoth Nirmal Ganga Aviral Ganga campaign is connected with the conscience of India. “This exercise can be carried out through a strong team and it entails work in multiple dimensions. Workers need to take a pledge to start work from here,” said Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing volunteers during his speech at Ganga Samagra.
Describing Ganga as lifeline of India’s culture, Dr Mohan Bhagwat said: “Our sacred river has to be saved under all circumstances. The effort Bhagirath made to bring Gangaji on this Earth, the same efforts will have to be made by volunteers to save Ganga and its connected rivers.”
Describing the mantra to make this difficult task easier, RSS Sarsanghchalak said that this work would be possible through public awareness. From Gangotri to Gangasagar, regular routine programmes will have to be conducted in villages and cities within five km radius on both banks of the Ganges. “This work can be completed only by awakening God within the person. We should not depend on the Government for this. People themselves will have to take this sacred cause into their hands. There is no need to think about what we will get from this work or what will happen to me. This work will have to be taken forward by making a strong team of all dimensions and training them at the central and state levels. For this, Ganga Aarti will be conducted in coastal village every morning and evening, training rituals to pilgrim priest, cleanliness of ghats, large plantations, water storage in ponds. All this work is difficult, but not impossible.”
On February 20, volunteers from six States gathered at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad camp in which a detailed action plan related to making Ganga more accessible was prepared.
While narrating an interesting tale, Dr Mohan Bhagwat informed there existed a difference of only three feet between success and failure. Even dissatisfied workers achieve great success. “In order to carry forward the Nirmal Ganga Aviral Ganga campaign, both development and environment have to be taken care of equally. There is a need to balance both.”
To achieve the objective, he stressed the use of both science and spirituality. “All workers involved in this exercise should have complete knowledge of water management and rivers’ water conservation.” For this work, he also urged workers to get blessings of saints.
The session was conducted by Dr Ashish Gautam, Union General Secretary of Ganga Samagra.
Union Organisation Secretary of Ganga Samagra, Shri Mithilesh Narayan, explained how to manage waste and waste disposal. Nandini Pathak, state convenor, Delhi, also showed this procedure to workers using an experiment.
The State convenors gave information about the plantation, cleanliness of ghats, Ganga Aarti, Ganga Jagran Yatra, natural farming in their respective provinces.
Union General Secretary Dr Ashish Gautam presented the entire draft of Ganga Samagra. He said after the work was carried out on Narmada River, Ganga Samagra was planned. He paid tributes to the late VHP leader Shri Ashok Singhal and acknowledged his work as inspiration. Former Union Minister Uma Bharti also recalled Shri Ashok Singhal’s contributions. She said when the Himalayas liquefy, water flows out of it and then the Ganges flows. Dr Radhakrishna Dixit also spoke at the event.
