The Yogi government is planning to change the way Madrasas are governed in Uttar Pradesh. The new set of rules are to be announced soon.

The new rules will keep a check on the arbitrariness of the management in the Madrasas.

The authority of appointing new teachers is with the management board of the Madrasa. It’s expected to change once the new rules are in place. The government is planning to handover the authority of recruitment to the commission.

This will also put in place a transfer policy for the Madrasa teachers. Currently, Madrasa teachers can’t be transferred.
There are also regular complaints against the management of Madrasas for taking arbitrary action against the teachers. The new rules are expected to stop this.

The state has about 600 aided Madrasas which employ more than 9000 teachers. These Madrasas get funds from the government.

With the demand for the changing times, the government is planning to make the Madrasa education more contemporary. It is also planning to make sports a part of the curriculum.

The new rules will be guided by the New Education Policy of the Union Government which was approved in July last year.

The current rules in place have no provision of study leave. The new rules are expected to change this and also streamline the process of promotion.
