In a massive blow to the Congress party ahead of the upcoming assembly election, the Congress government failed to win the trust vote in the Puducherry Assembly. V Narayanasamy has tendered his resignation as the CM of Puducherry.
The Congress-led alliance was down to 12 MLAs following the resignation of its legislators in the past few weeks. Since the opposition camp had 14 MLAs with them, without going for a trust vote, the MLAs supporting the N Narayanasamy government staged a walkout.
Rahul Gandhi had visited Puducherry a few days back to evaluate his party’s preparedness for the upcoming election and the collapse of the only-Congress led government in the South is a major blow to him. During an interaction program of Rahul Gandhi with the common people of Puducherry, Narayanasamy’s false translation had become national news.
