In yet another revelation that strengthens the accusation of the Chinese Communist Party trying to penetrate into global organisations for surveillance and intelligence gathering, a new report has suggested that CCP members have already penetrated UK firms. The Chinese diplomacy, commonly known as the ‘Wolf warrior diplomacy’ involves tactics of planting CCP members to foreign companies, NGOs and governmental organisations.
The Daily Mail has reported that a leaked database of 1.95 million registered CCP members shows how Beijing’s “malign influence” now stretches to defence firms, banks and pharmaceutical giants. Some of the CCP members who swear oaths to ‘guard party secrets, be loyal to the party, work hard and fight for communism throughout my life.. and never betray the party’, have also penetrated the UK consulates.
As per the report, 123 party loyalists are working in two of the pharmaceutical companies working on developing Corona vaccine- Pfizer and AstraZeneca. The report also claimed that 600 of the CCP members were working in HSBC and Standard Chartered in 2016. China is accused of using political proxies in creating troubles in foreign nations. They were recently accused of interfering in the internal affairs of Australia.
Writing in The Mail on Sunday today, former Tory Party leader Iain Duncan Smith said: “This investigation proves that members of the Chinese Communist Party are now spread around the globe, with members working for some of the world’s most important multinational corporations, academic institutions and our own diplomatic services.”
“The Government must now move to expel and remove any members of the Communist Party from our Consuls throughout China. They can either serve the UK or the Chinese Communist Party. They cannot do both,” he added.
