Three unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter at South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday morning, police said.

A joint operation was launched by the police, army and the CRPF after forces received an input that two to three terrorists were hiding at Tiken village in Pulwama.

Jammu and Kashmir DGP said, “On a specific police input operation is on at Ticken Pulwama since early morning today. Two unidentified terrorists neutralised so far.”

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Tikken area of Pulwama district in the early hours of the day on receiving information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the security forces were fired upon. Two ultras have been killed so far in the operation, the official said.

A civilian also sustained injuries during the attack.

It is to be noted that the J&K DDC elections are being held in eight phases and will conclude on December 19. The election results will be announced on December 22.
