Various groups of farmers from Haryana met Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday, December 7, and backed the government on farm bills.
More than 1.20 lakh farmers belonging to farmer producer organisations (FPOs) and progressive farmer groups in Haryana have written to Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, supporting the three farm laws.
Har Kisan, a federation of 116 Haryana FPOs and progressive farming communities, said while retaining the minimum support price and AMPC mandi system, the government should also keep the new Farm Acts.
The letter signed by members of FPOs reads, “These bills should be continued as suggested by farmer organisations. We are in favour of MSP and mandi system as suggested by farmers’ organisations. But we request you to continue these laws with suggested amendments.”
Meanwhile, the farmers’ protest has entered its 13th day today. The protesting Kisan unions have announced to observe Bharat Bandh today against the new agricultural laws. The Kisan unions will observe all-India strike from 11 am to 3 pm today.
The next meeting between the government and representative group of protesting farmers is already scheduled on December 9.
