Justin Trudeau, other Canadian leaders’ comments on farmers protest ill-informed, unwarranted: India

India today said comments by Canadian leaders relating to farmers in India are unwarranted, especially when pertaining to the internal affairs of a democratic country.
In response to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava termed the comments as ill-informed. He said it is best that diplomatic conversations are not misrepresented for political purposes.
“We have seen some ill-informed comments by Canadian leaders relating to farmers in India. Such comments are unwarranted, especially when pertaining to the internal affairs of a democratic country. It is also best that diplomatic conversations are not misrepresented for political purposes,” MRA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was the first international leader to comment on the protest in the name of farms bill taking place in India. He was speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak (Gurpuruab).
