Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in Chennai to inaugurate a slew of projects, has challenged family ridden DMK and Congress for a debate on the work done during DMK–Congress tenure and NDA government in Tamil Nadu. Amit Shah has proved his significance as a Chanakya and the Lieutenant to Narendra Modi. AIADMK has made it in clear terms that the tie-up would continue for the forthcoming Assembly polls due in April—May next year.
At a function held at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, Amit Shah laid the foundation stones and other projects worth over 70,000 crores, a boon for the state. This included Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase II for Chennai city at a cost of Rs. 61,843 cores, expansion of Chennai Trade Centre ( Rs 309 Cr) IOCL POL terminal Vallure ( Rs 900 Cr) LUBE plant at Amullaivoyal (Rs.1,400 Cr) new Jetty at Kamarajar Port (Rs.900 Cores) elevated highway in Coimbatore at an estimated Rs 1,620 crore, a barrage across river Cauvery in Karur district besides dedicating the Thervaikandigaireservoir in Tiruvallur district to quench the Chennai residents.
Speaking at the function AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Coordinator and Chief Minister Edapadi K Palaniswamy announced in the presence of Amit Shah that party’s alliance with the BJP would continue. They exuded confidence that the combine would make a hattrick in 2021 assembly elections. OPS said, “I would like to inform through this meeting that in the coming election (2021) the victorious alliance of AIADMK and BJP will continue. Palaniswamy praised that the Prime Minister and Shah were working towards making the country a superpower and alliance formed for the 2019 LokSabha polls would continue. He said, “Our alliance will win maximum numbers of seats and AIADMK will retain power.” This assertion came in the backdrop of the AIADMK government denial of permission to the BJP’s Vetrivel Yatra and arrests of its leader. The yatra is aimed at exposing the DMK for lending support to atheist outfits and their anti-Hindu stance.
Amit Shah threw a challenged to DMK, which is misleading the TN people that BJP government did not do anything for the state, “We are ready for a debate on work done during DMK-Congress tenure and our government in Tamil Nadu. In a tweet later he said “I want to ask the DMK and Congress party what good has the UPA govt. done for Tamil Nadu during their 10-year long rule at the Centre. PM Narendra Modi led central government has given the state of Tamil Nadu its due rights”.
He complimented the TN government as one of the best states that has combatted the COVID-19 pandemic. Amit Shah said the Tamil Nadu government has taken the best care of newborns and pregnant women in Bharat.
Amit Shah seems to have scored a sixer in his maiden visit to Tamil Nadu in cementing the strained relations with the AIADMK without asking and made headway in his two -day mission.
Amit Shah has sprung a surprise when he virtually broke protocol to get out of his vehicle and walk on the busy GST Road outside the airport to greet supporters, minutes after he landed Chennai for a two-day visit. BJP has saffronised the entire stretch from Airport to Chennai city, a huge turnout of enthusiastic party workers, supporters of women and men, youths of all walks of life. It is the first time a national party like BJP could receive a huge turnout in Tamil Nadu. CM, Dy.CM and cabinet colleagues were in attendance at the airport to receive Amit Shah. TN CM took a planned move by inviting Amit Shah to a function only to keep Sasikala and her clan away from power Centre. She is expected to be released from Bangalore jail soon. Shah also met Thuglak editor S Gurumurthy as part of his Tamil Nadu visit.
A political analysts said, “For BJP there is nothing to lose in assembly polls and only to gain. BJP can contest on their own to find their true vote surge but big stake game for ruling AIADMK and long- time opposition DMK. The Vel Yatra is a stupendous success and the credit goes to TN party chief L Murugan, former IPS officer Annamalai and others. The yatra kept the morale of party workers in high spirit. The spontaneous turnout of women and youth in large numbers proves a clear pointer to the growing popularity of BJP in TN”.
