Two employees of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) have committed suicide within just 12 hours. One of the employees, Manoj Chaudhary, a Jalgaon ST bus conductor, has blamed Uddhav Thackeray government for non-payment of dues in his suicide letter. He also blamed the ST corporation for salary cut and irregularities. Manoj Chaudhary committed suicide by hanging himself this morning.
“ST department and Thackeray government are responsible for the cutback on the salaries of the employees which triggered my brother to give up his life. From the last three months he was getting a reduced salary,” Chaudhary’s bereaved brother told media.
Yesterday, another ST employee, Pandarang Gadde, from Ratnagiri division had also committed suicide. According to reports, non-payment of salaries for the last 4 months is the reason behind Gadde committing suicide.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Fadnavis called their suicides painful and heartbreaking. “The government should wake up now. MSRTC employees and their families are in dire straits. What action will be taken against those who are guilty for these two incidents in Jalgaon and Ratnagiri? Will the government take responsibility for these suicides?” he asked.
