Senior Sangh pracharak and editor of Vijayabharatham Tamil weekly M Veerabahu passed away today. He was 72.
Veerabahu ji, as fondly called is colleagues and friends, was admitted to a private hospital in Poonamallee High road last week following Corona virus symptoms. After clinical examinations, he was found Covid 19 positive. Two days back he was shifted to Government General hospital. He was responding to treatment and revering , his condition deteriorated today. Despite best medical attention the end came this morning at 11.40. Despite efforts to carry his mortal remains to RSS Karyalaya at Chepauk. Corporation authorities citing pandemic rules denied permission. The same authorities allowed Covid positive Congress MP and Businessman H Vasanth Kumar’s body to be taken to Congress Party office and to his native village in Kanyakumari district.
A native of Tirunelveli, Veerabahu , joined RSS at the young age and dedicated his life for it. Deep rooted in Hindutuva ideologies, he was state organizer for Hindu Munnani for ten years. He was also officer bearer in VHP. He edited “ Sangha Seithi( Sangh News) and later become Vijaya Bharatham, mouth piece of RSS. Till his death he was the editor. He was a good speaker , writer remind a bachelor. His colleagues recall him as suave, simple and knowledgeable person. He was the key person in the restoration of Vellore Jalagandeswar temple idol at the Sanctum Sanctorum. The main idol was taken away for safe keeping during the Mughal invasion. He strived hard to bring the economically weaker Vellore district into a developed one. He was the Mukya Sishak Vargha for several years. Even in large sangastan he would speak loudly without mike which could be heard at the last row participants. He had visited all the over state as Pracharak during his unstinted 52 years of selfless service. He worked hard even at the difficult times.
