West Bengal BJP MLA Debendra Nath Ray found hanging near his village; Party suspects he was killed and then hung

In a shocking incident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Hemtabad Debendra Nath Ray has been found hanging near his village. Hemtabad is a reserved seat in Uttar Dinajpur in West Bengal. BJP suspects that he was first killed and then hung as per the people residing in the area.
BJP Bengal tweeted “Body of Shri Debendra Nath Ray, BJP MLA from Hemtabad, a reserved seat, in Uttar Dinajpur, was found hanging like this in Bindal, near his village home. People are of the clear opinion that he was first killed & then hung. His crime? He joined the BJP in 2019. Om Shanti”, it said in its tweet.
The party leaders say that the murder of a MLA indicates the pathetic situation of law & order in the state where even a elected representative is not safe under the rule of Mamata Banerjee and her party.
BJP leader Rahul Sinha has demanded a CBI inquiry into the killing of BJP MLA from Hemtabad, Debendra Nath Ray. “Trinamool Congress is behind this killing and has made it look like a suicide. I request West Bengal CM to order CBI inquiry to find the truth behind the killing”, he said while speaking to ANI.
Debendra Nath Ray was earlier in CPI(M) and was also elected as an MLA from the party. In 2019, he was disillusioned with the CPI(M) and left the party. He soon joined the BJP in presence of senior BJP leaders in New Delhi.
As per a news report, Family members of MLA Debendra Nath claim that he was killed and hanged later. People of the area also claimed that the BJP MLA was murdered and then hanged, says the report. However, police said the cause of death will be ascertained after post mortem. The body has been sent to Raigunj hospital for post mortem.
