In a strange incident, a Kolkata resident who ordered for the Communist Manifesto on Amazon.in, received a copy of the great Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita, instead of the treatise on Communism by Karl Marx.
Sutirtha Das, who hails from Garia area of Kolkata, had placed an order for the Communist Manifesto on Wednesday. As promised he received the package on Saturday. When he opened it, to his surprise, he found a copy of Bhagavad Gita. The invoice of the booking mentioned Communist Manifesto, but it contained a Penguin copy of the abridged version of Gita, instead of the revolutionary Marxist literature!
In a Facebook post, Das narrated the whole episode: “I found a book on Amazon last Wednesday (10/06) which was available at discount price, very cheap. The name of the book was ‘Communist Manifesto’. I paid Rs 90 for the book and Rs 50 as the delivery charge. I immediately received a message that the book would be delivered on Friday or Saturday. On Saturday morning, I received a message from Amazon saying that my book is out for delivery and around 2 PM, when I was in my office, I got notified that my order has been delivered. When I came back in the evening, I found out that my ‘Communist Manifesto’ has somehow become an English copy of ‘Bhagavad Gita’,” Sutirtha wrote.
Social media erupted in laughter after Das shared his experience on Facebook. People have been flooding the comment section with funny remarks. As per some netizens, the supply of Bhagavad Gita as a substitute of the Communist Manifesto has huge greater relevance in the emerging political scenario of the state, which was once ruled by Communists for more than three decades.
