RSS condoles the death of senior Kannada poet and Padma Shri awardee Nissar Ahmed

 

RSS has condoled the death of senior Kannada poet KS Nissar Ahmed who passed away in Bengaluru today morning. He was 84. Nissar Ahmed was awarded the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1982, Nadoja Award in 2003 and Padma Shri in 2008. Several of his Kannada poems like ‘Jogada Siri Belakinalli…’ from his collection ‘Nityotsava’ are household renditions in Karnataka. He had also inaugurated the 407th edition of Mysuru Dasara in 2017.

 

In a statement of condolence issued by RSS Dakshin Madhya Kshetra Sanghachalak V Nagaraj said the departure of KS Nissar Ahmed has created a void in the world of Kannada literature that cannot be filled.

 

“The death of veteran poet Nissar Ahmad, who enriched Kannada literature, prose and poetry, is an irreparable loss. His departure has created a void in the world of Kannada literature that cannot be filled. A composer of rich literature and immortalized in many household poems, was also the composer of ‘Jogada Siri Belakinalli…’ which is as like Karnataka state anthem.

 

The RSS prays to the almighty to grant his family members and well-wishers the strength to endure the loss”, said V Nagaraj.
