Swadeshi companies rise to the occasion: Parle G to distribute 30 million packets of biscuits to needy affected by the Lock down

Major biscuit brand Parle will distribute 30 million packets of Parle G in the next three weeks to the needy. The company said that it will distribute these packets through government agencies. The company will provide biscuits exclusively to those daily wage earner and other poor people affected by the lock down. Parle company announced this amid the declaration of the 21-day lockdown across the country.
Parle also said that the company will donate the biscuits despite only 50 percent of its workforce working in its factories. The company has ensured that its products do not fall short in the market. Mayank Shah, senior officer of Parle Products informed Dainik Jagran, “We have decided to work together with the government. We will distribute 30 million packets of biscuits through government agencies. 10 million packets will be distributed every week for the next three weeks with focus on the needy people.”
Shah further said that the company is trying to ascertain the real beneficiaries so that it will reach those whose livelihoods have been affected. “Along with the government, we will try to ensure that such people do not starve”, he said.
Parle G’s other social initiatives
The Parle has taken up other social initiatives aimed at a better society. Some of its projects are Design for Change aimed at children, Olympic Gold Quest for sports and Junkyard Project for Swachch Bharat mission.

Through the Parle MTV Junkyard Project, the company mobilizes the youth to take a stand on local sanitation. The program supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat mission and has been awarded Gold at the Appies Asia Conference as one of the most effective CSR activities across Asia.
