In a video released on social media on March 23, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey has appealed to the people of Bihar to follow the lockdown strictly as people were seen venturing out in different localities of the state capital and other major towns of Bihar. He said that the fight against Corona is nothing short of a war and mean the lockdown as curfew. His video appealing to the people of Bihar is being shared extensively on social media.

In the video he explained how at this time all the citizens of the country should fight this war together. He appreciated the way people of Bihar cooperated during ‘Janta Curfew’ on March 22 and appealed to the people of State to abide by the lockdown order in the state till March 31 to curb the spread of the Corona virus.

“I know that people will face a lot of problems due to the lockdown but it is necessary to protect people from getting infected. The government has announced lockdown to save the people from Corona virus”, said Bihar DGP. He further appealed to the people to pledge that they will not comeout during lockdown.

“The lockout is not only for the people living in urban areas but also applicable for the people living in rural areas. Do not step outside without any emergency. Postpone all your works till March 31 and spend time with your family”, he requested. He also appealed to the people to inform the local administration about those people who have come after the Corona outbreak in their nearby areas from other city or country.

After the outbreak of Corona virus, a large number of people living in Delhi, Mumbai and other metro cities returned to their native villages in Bihar. This has created a risk of spreading the pandemic. On March 21, the first death was reported from Bihar due to Corona virus. The patient had recently returned from Qatar via Kolkata and then, reached his village in the State’s Munger district. The 38-year-old man Saif Ali passed away at AIIMS in Patna.

Recently after the Bihar Government tightened vigil on citizens not complying with the restrictions being imposed on them to contain the spread of the Corona virus, Patna police have detained 12 foreign nationals from a Mosque in Kurji area of Patna. According to reports, these people had hidden in the Mosque located near Gate No. 74 in the locality, with the help of few local Muslims. These people were reportedly hiding, fearing medical examination amidst the coronavirus outbreak. It is believed that these foreigners were religious preachers and that they have been roaming around freely in Bihar.

According to reports, these foreigners have been in Patna since the month of January. They had taken shelter in the Mosque with the help of some local Muslims. Bihar has reported 2 positive cases of coronavirus so far and 1 death has been reported.
