“With the onslaught of the coronavirus (CoVid-19) that has gripped more than 182 countries causing a manifold increase in fatalities, the protests at Shaheen Bagh pose an imminent threat and danger to the lives of millions of Indians”

A petition has been filed against the Islamists in Shaheen Bagh who have decided to continue with their anti-CAA protest on Sunday, when the nation will observe ‘Janta Curfew’ in response to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The complaint has been filed at the Shaheen Bhag police station on March 20. The petitioners alleged that the Shaheen Bagh has the capacity to unleash a pandemic of unmanageable proportions.

“As Shaheen Bagh continues to set a dangerous and regretful precedent for India’s democracy, with every passing day it is assuming the shape of an unthinkable omen ready to fall upon India and people living here. With the onslaught of the coronavirus (CoVid-19) that has gripped more than 182 countries causing a manifold increase in fatalities, the protests at Shaheen Bagh pose an imminent threat and danger to the lives of millions of Indians,” the petitioners said in their complaint.

As per the directive of the Delhi government issued on Monday, gatherings with more than 50 people are not allowed in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. “It also applies to Shaheen Bagh,” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said.

However, the anti-CAA protesters have now decided to defy the Prime Minister’s clarion call and go ahead with their protest, with some minor modifications, that has been continuing since December last year.

“Washing hands regularly is part of our lifestyle. We offer namaz five times a day and we wash our hands every time,” a woman protester told media.

On Thursday, one of the organisers of the anti-CAA protests at Jahangirpuri in Delhi tested positive for the Wuhan Coronavirus. His sister had arrived from Saudi Arabia on March 11. He had visited the protest site at Jahangirpuri on March 13 after meeting his sister.
