In yet another assault on the integrity of courts, Congress and allied media outlets launched a slanderous attack against the Supreme Court Collegium and the Union Government for transferring Justice S Muralidhar, who heard the petitions on the anti-CAA riots in Delhi on Wednesday. According to the pro-Congress media, the transfer order was immediately issued by the President Shri Ram Nath Kovind.
The fact is that the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of three judges, including Justice Muralidhar, on February 12. The notifications for these transfers were issued on Wednesday as a routine process. Delhi HC Judge S Muralidhar has now been transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Supreme Court had recommended the transfer last week, following which Delhi High Court launched a protest against the move.
In a series of tweets, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad came down heavily on the Congress for “politicizing a routine transfer”.
“Transfer of Hon’ble Justice Muralidhar was done pursuant to the recommendation dated 12.02.2020 of the Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India. While transferring the judge consent of the judge is taken. The well-settled process has been followed,” Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted.
“By politicising a routine transfer, Congress has yet again displayed its scant regard for the judiciary. People of India have rejected Congress Party and hence it is hell bent on destroying the very institutions India cherishes by constantly attacking them,” the law minister said.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s malicious tweet about Justice BH Loya, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “The Loya judgement has been well settled by the Supreme Court. Those raising questions do not respect the judgment of the Apex Court pronounced after elaborate arguments. Does Rahul Gandhi consider himself above even the Supreme Court?”
“The Party, which is the private property of one family, has no right to lecture about objectionable speeches. The family & it’s cronies have routinely used the harshest words against the Courts, the Army, the CAG, the PM and the people of India,” he added.
