Bengaluru: The Silver jubilee of popular Sanskrit magazine ‘Sambhashan Sandesh, was celebrated on February 19. Addressing the gathering on this occasion Sanskrit Bharati national secretary Shri Satyanarayan Bhat said Sanskrit as a language earned the sobriquet of Lokabhasha, Vishwabhasha and Devabhasha and now the need of the hour is it to make it Janabhasha – the language of people. He said over 90 lakh people in Bharat have learnt Sanskrit through various camps conducted by Sanskrit Bharati. He said that for Sanskrit to become the language of Bharat, everyone has the responsibility of taking it to next levels personally, academically and socially.
Head of News & Programmes, ‘Suvarna News’ Shri Ajith Hanumakkanavar, remembered his teacher who spoke 12 foreign languages and it was learning Sanskrit which enabled his teacher to learn and converse in many languages. Citing the examples of Germany, which started a University for Sanskrit studies, he said there is a hindrance in the nation about indigenous thoughts. Sanskrit being the oldest language would help the knowledge of the past to reach people, he said.
Earlier, editor of the magazine Shri Janardhan Hegde spoke on how the idea of Sanskrit language to be spoken by common people was initiated not merely by propagating that the language was easy to speak and understand but was in reaching people’s hearts and convincing the ease in learning of the language by practice. He urged the people that they should subscribe to the Sanskrit magazine not just as a factor of motivation but it stood as a great source of knowledge. In his witty speech, invoking the proverb of the land that one should not ask a man his salary, a woman her age, he added saying one should not ask the circulation numbers of a magazine or newspaper. Albeit he stated ‘Sambhashan Sandesh’ had earned good readership over years and the 1st edition of the magazine had 10,000 copies printed and were distributed to people. He lauded Dr. HS Venkatesh Murthy, who is president of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, stated that Sanskrit could be the link language in the country.

Indore: Veteran children literary person Shri Raja Chaurasia was honoured with Devputra Gaurav Samman on February 18 by Union Minister of Culture Shri Prahlad Singh Patel. Receiving the Samman Shri Chaurasia said the literary persons who write for children should have the innocence like children. “Whatever is our age we should keep the child in us alive,” he said.
Shri Prahlad Singh Patel said the children’s literature has been very neglected in our country. Even at the government level, it was not paid the attention that should have been paid to it. The Samman consists of a shawl, coconut and cheque of Rs 35,000. Shri Raja Chaurasia is the literary person who not only composes literature for children but also distributes child literature on his cycle. Chairman of Saraswati Bal Kalyan Nyas Shri KK Asthana and editor of ‘Devputra’ Shri Vikas Dave were also present.
