President Ramnath Kovind has won hearts of the countrymen after he took steps to reduce his security at a hotel in Cochin only to ensure that the wedding of a US based couple passes of without any hindrance due to his security cover. Moreover, the concern and solution were raised and solved on Twitter.

US resident Ashley Hall had planned her wedding with Abhi at Taj Vivanta Hotel in Kochi on January 7th, 2020. However, due to the stay of President Kovind at the hotel on the same day, Ashley was told to change her wedding venue on January 4th keeping in view of the security arrangements for the President. The strict security protocol for the President mandates that the hotel be secured for the period of his stay. President Kovind was to arrive at Kochi on 6th and the hotel was to be secured till 8th. Ashley was given 48-hours to shift her wedding venue.

A disappointed Ashley took to Twitter and sought President’s help in the matter. She wrote that she had been planning the wedding for 8 months but were told to change the venue just before 48 hours by his security team.

After her tweet, it was evident that the President’s team worked on a solution in the background and ensured that the couple had no hindrances. Within the next few hours, Ashley again tweeted that the state officials and the hotel staff had worked out a solution and the wedding could take place as scheduled. Confirming his intervention, the President replied to Ashley saying that he is glad that the issues have been resolved. President Kovind also conveyed his best wishes to the couple of their wedding.

On January 7th, Ashley happily tweeted that their wedding went off well and that they were ‘blown away’ by the generosity and kindness of President Ramnath Kovind. She said that her marriage was a unforgettable affair and that she learned many things. She ended her tweet with ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’.

Many netizens congratulated the couple and also commended the President for going the extra mile to change his security protocol so that the couple have a peaceful wedding. One user wrote that the President’s gesture would enhance the prestige of our country.

Another user wrote that this is new India and ‘no more #VIPRacism of Nehruvian times’.
