Pune: “If every family turns cow protector, the country will witness unprecedented change. Bharatiya Sanskriti regards the cow as mother, but it is very unfortunate that the same mother cow is sent to slaughter houses even by some Hindus. This must stop,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at a function organised by Gau Vigyan Sanshodhan Sanstha and Dadra Nagar Haveli Mukti Sangram Samiti to present Moropant Pingle Gau Sewa Puraskar on December 9. President of the Sanstha Shri Rajendra Lunkad, Baba Saheb Purandare and Pune Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Ravindra Banjarvadkar were also present.

The Sarsanghachalak felicitated nine individuals and organisations for their services to the cows. Moropant Pingle Rashtriya Gau Sewa Puraskar, which consists of a cheque of Rs one lakh, memento, shawl and coconut, was presented to Gau Sewa Paraivar of Kolkata. Moropant Pingle state level Puraskar was presented to Vaidya Jyotitai Mundragi and Vaidya Ajit Adavant for their services in health sector. Moropant Pingle Gau Sewa Prachar Puraskar was presented to editor of ‘Aaj ka Anand’ Shri Shyam Agrawal. Moropant Pingle Panchgavya Utpadan and Prashikshan Puraskar was presented to Poonam Raut from Satara. Shri Bhagwat also released a book ‘Gau Vigyan Andolan ke Parvartak Moropant Pingle’ written by Shri Moreshwar Joshi.

At another function held at Sangamner, Shri Bhagwat felicitated 81 students for memorising Bhagavad Geeta with ‘Geetavrati’ title. Addressing the gathering he said Geeta is a divine book and Bharat can be made Vishwaguru on the basis of her knowledge. Geeta inspires everyone to follow ones duty and face the challenges of life without getting disturbed. The function was held to celebrate Geeta Jayanti and the 71st birth anniversary of Geeta Parivar founder Swami Govinddev Giri Maharaj.

Baba Ramdev stressed on making the students Yogi and ‘upayogi’ (useful) for the nation. He said Geeta has the rare combination of feeling, knowledge and science. Swami Govinddev Giri advocated the ancient education system. He said the country is facing the consequences of wrong education system imposed on us by the Britishers.
