New Delhi: Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the largest women organisation of the country, Mahila Samanvya and Hindu Jagran Manch jointly staged a protest at Jantar Mantar on December 3 against the gang rape on a lady doctor in Hyderabad and demanded strict action against the culprits. They hanged the effigies of the rapists as mark of their protest.
Addressing the protestors, Delhi Prant Sah Karyavahika of Rashtra Sevika Samiti Sushri Vidushi Sharma said women are highly revered in Bharat since ages. Hence, their security must be paramount at any cost. The people who commit such heinous crimes must sternly be punished. “I am not in favour of death penalty. I want the kind of punishment to them that they realise their crime every moment of their life,” she said.
Sadhvi Prachi, while expressing anguish, stressed the need to awaken the women. “The women should themselves come forward to get their culprit sons punished. If the culprits of Nirbhaya were hanged till now, such a heinous crime would not have been repeated.
Shri Anil Tripathi, president of Hindu Manch Delhi, said the incident is highly unfortunate and is a stigma on the humanity. The government should enact strict laws to punish such criminals.
The protestors expressed anguish against the Government of Telangana and its Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali They said apart from the doctor another lady was burnt, which shows the poor law and order condition in the state of Telangana. Even then the Home Minister held the doctor herself responsible for the crime, which should be condemned in strongest words and the Home Minister should be removed immediately.
