On September 11, 2019, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test fired the indigenously developed light weight, fire and forget Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM). The missile was launched from a man portable Tripod launcher on a simulated tank target. The missile hit the target in top attack mode and destroyed it. This is the third series of successful testing of MPATGM. The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO for the successful test.
 
 
 
 

EXERCISE SLNIX-2019

 
 
 
 
The 6-day long Exercise SLNIX-2019, held between Indian and Sri Lankan navies, began on September 7, 2019 off the Vizag coast. Two Sri Lankan Naval Ships ‘Sindhurala’ and ‘Suranimala’ participated in this exercise. The exercise initially began with a ‘harbour phase’ involving professional interactions, training activities, cultural events and sporting exchanges, and then followed it up with co-ordinated maritime operations in the ‘sea phase’. The exercise concluded on September 12, 2019.
