Mohanji said it was a great pleasure to spend time with the children of ‘Mayilpeely-Koottam’, the readers’ forum of ‘Mayilpeely’, a children magazine published with the blessing of Balagokulam, Kerala. The cover photo of the magazine’s Onam special edition was also released.

“I have been with UnniKannan (Unnikannan means the Lord Krishna in infant form in Malayalam language) for the past several hours. Now, I am also with these children’s who are energetic, bright and happy and certainly we are realising that this is the power of the idea envisaged by Balagokulam in Kerala. From the moment I came to Kerala, I am receiving lot of happens and energetic experiences, Shri Mohan Bhatwat said.

‘Mayilpeely’ was started in 1999 at Kottayam with the objective of providing entertainment, knowledge and culture to the children. For its subscribers, ‘Mayilpeely’ conducts a scholarship exam for High School students. Toppes get scholarship awards worth Rs 100,000.

Furthermore, ‘Mayilppeely’ instituted “NN Kakkad Sahithya Award” in 2002 in the memory of Malayalee’s favourite poet. The award, conferred to writers up to the age of 18, is one of the most prestigious awards in Kerala for this category.
