Dr CK Saluja’s quest for knowledge, simplicity to the core, the pursuit for perfection, unparalleled service to teacher education, relentless efforts to train master trainers and his love for all the three i.e. students, subject and teaching have made him a great Guru, a Rishi in the real sense and a practical Yogi
 
 
New Delhi: Eminent educationist and Sanskrit Scholar Dr Chand Kiran Saluja has been selected for the coveted ‘President’s Certificate of Honour—2019’ by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for his outstanding contribution to Sanskrit education. The Award, which carries a citation and Rs five lakh, will be conferred on him in an investiture ceremony by the President of India.
 
Dr Saluja taught Sanskrit, Hindi, Political Science, Social Sciences, Principles of Education, Problems of Indian Education, Equality and Education, Social Theory of Education, Education in Third World country in Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi for twenty years before he took VRS and joined the Sanskrit Promotion Foundation as Director Academics.
 
He is considered to be a great authority in subjects like Human Rights & Education with special reference to Children’s Rights, Philosophy, Sociology and Problems of Indian Education, Legal Perspectives of Education, Ancient or Bharatiya System of Education. He has guided eighteen students at Ph.D. level, about thirty at M.Phil level and about 150 at M.Ed level.
 
Dr Saluja pioneered Communicative Approach in Sanskrit language teaching in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools and conducted more than one hundred teacher training programmes all over India and revolutionised Sanskrit teaching method at the school level. He authored, edited and guided Sanskrit textbooks not only for CBSE, DAV, etc. but also for various State Text Book Boards.
 
Under the path-breaking guidance of Dr Saluja, Samskrit Promotion Foundation (SPF) under ONGC-CSR project has already produced more than 70 books under ‘Samskrit for Specific Purpose’ Series like Samskrit for Yoga, Samskrit for Ayurveda, Samskrit for Bhagavad Gita, Samskrit for Vedanta, Samskrit for Natyashastra, Samskrit for Music and Arts, etc. which are heralding a new era in the field of Sanskrit education. Online Sanskrit tutorials are another first of its kind in Samskrit education achieved by Dr Saluja. School textbooks of modern subjects are also being translated into Samskrit by Dr Saluja and his team of young scholars. Research in Samskrit Pedagogy and Bharatiya Shiksha is being undertaken in SPF under the able guidance of Dr Chand Kiran Saluja.
 
Dr Saluja, a bachelor, is a voracious reader and workaholic in producing teaching and learning material for both Samskrit teachers and students. He is an embodiment of knowledge and humility, a very rare thing to see both in one person. His untiring efforts have taken the Samskrit Promotion Foundation into the forefront of the rejuvenation of Samskrit education. His quest for knowledge, simplicity to the core, the pursuit for perfection, unparalleled service to teacher education, relentless efforts to train master trainers and his love for all the three i.e. students, subject and teaching have made him a great Guru. He is a Rishi in the real sense and a practical Yogi.
 
Dr Saluja is also former President of Samskrit Bharati. Presently, he is a member of many Boards of Management of many institutions under MHRD like NCERT, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Indian Council for Philosophical Research, etc.
