A group of Muslim extremists belongs to the Indian Union Muslim League, an alliance partner of Congress-led UDF in Kerala, attacked Thushar Vellappally, the NDA candidate who is contesting against Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad. A group of around two hundred Muslim League goons and Congress workers were attacking the convoy of the NDA candidate.
The incident took place near Kalikavu in Wandoor, Malappuram district.
The assailants vandalised the car of Thushar Vellappally. Several NDA workers have also been injured in the attack.
Wandoor of Wayanad Constituency is a part of Malappuram district, where Muslims are a majority. The Congress chose Wayanad for Rahul Gandhi because of the strong presence of its alliance partner Muslim League.
