Shri J Nandakumar, National Convenor of Prajna Pravah, speaking at the seminar

“The idea of Bharat is rooted in Hindutva which is revealed as philosophy (rather Darshan) and poles apart from the concept of ideology. This Hindutva, which was emanated from Vedas and Agamas is all-inclusive and all-encompassing in nature and, has naturally created a heartening and enriching milieu that has shaped many eminent right thinking intellectuals in our ancient society,” said Prajna Pravah national convenor Shri J Nandakumar. He was speaking at a seminar on ‘Role of Intellectuals in Good Governance’, organised by Indian Economic and Cultural Centre (IECC) in Coimbatore on April 15.

“This philosophy was later reflected in our Puranas and Itihasas like Ramayana in its all enormity and depth. Unfortunately, the incessant flow of this philosophy and knowledge system was broken following myriads of invasions and external aggression that eventually resulted in the decay of our nation,” he added.

Speaking about the difference between our darshana and the western notion of ideology, Shri Nandakumar said that Bharat was a land of peace and harmony until it was delinked from the philosophy of Hindutva, after Darshana was replaced with ideologies like Islamism, Catholicism and Communism which are exclusivist in nature.

He said that a course correction was necessary when Bharat became independent but we failed to make it as the rein of power fell in wrong hands. “The Nehru Government did not take any initiative at the policy level to decolonise Indian minds. The real process of liberating intelligentsia and academia from the grips of perverted ideologies started only in 2014. The need of the hour is ensuring continuity of this process at least for the next 10 years,” Shri Nandakumar said on the eve of Lok Sabha Elections.

Luminaries like Shri P R Krishna Kumar Warrier, MD the Ayurvedic Trust, Shri Praful Sejpal, Naam Hindu, and Prof P Kanagasabgapathi, Director IECC were also present on the occasion and shared their views.
