Former ISRO chief gets death threat from Jaish-e-Mohammed for supporting Narendra Modi

Former ISRO chairman and BJP leader Dr G Madhavan Nair has received a death threat from Islamist terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed. CISF officials recovered the letter from a mailbox at his residence, Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram and handed it over to investigation agencies.

Speaking to Organiser, Dr G Madhavan Nair has confirmed that a letter was recovered from his residence and the security officials directly handed it over to the police. “I have not read the letter but the investigation officers contacted me and divulged about the content of the letter,” he said.

According to police sources, the letter warns that G Madhavan Nair will be killed unless he stops supporting Narendra Modi. Dr Nair received the letter, in the name of Jaish-e-Mohammed, on the same day he hailed the Prime Minister for successfully carrying out the test of Anti-Satellite missile. The security agencies have taken a serious note of the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammad, the perpetrators of Pulwama terror attacks.

G Madhavan Nair, being the former chairman of ISRO had praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for successfully carrying out the Mission Shakti and criticised the UPA government for its lack of political will to demonstrate it during its tenure. “Now (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji has taken the initiative and he had the political will and courage to say that we will do this. We have now demonstrated this to the whole world,” Nair had told a new agency.

The letter has been handed over to secret agencies and a case was registered by the Museum Police. The central investigating agencies have also been given inputs regarding the incident. G Madhavan Nair has joined the BJP last year. Born on October 31, 1943, Nair served as the chairman of ISRO from 2003 to 2009, and led India’s first lunar orbiter mission, Chandrayaan-1.
