New Delhi: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS), the largest labour organisation in the country, demanded an apology from the Congress for its repeated “chowkidar chor hai” jibe.
Seeking an apology from the party, BMS general secretary Brajesh Upadhyay, in a statement, said security guard unions and associations affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh have expressed their reservations against the slogan being used by the Congress. The whole community of security guards across the country was hurt with the slogan which is becoming common in election rallies.
“It has become a fashion to raise such derogatory slogans in poll meetings and the Congress should apologise to the watchmen in the country for their character assassination.” It is strange that Congress president Rahul Gandhi is using these “undignified” words “to insult the whole security guards community”, which is condemnable, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh general secretary said.
BMS said that not only the Congress, but all other parties that are using the slogan must immediately stop the attack on the character and dignity of security guards. The BMS warned the Congress and other political parties that the organisation will be forced to take stringent action and will launch a nation-wide agitation, if they continue to use such derogatory slogans.
