The Union Cabinet today approved a 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker General category. The BJP led NDA Government decided to amend the Constitution to provide the reservation for economically backward upper castes.
The proposed reservation will reportedly benefit them in direct recruitment in government services and admission to higher educational institutions.
The government is likely to introduce the legislation on Tuesday the last day of the winter session of Parliament.
