Tourist from Tamil Nadu Killed in J&K Stone Pelting

A 22-year-old tourist from Tamil Nadu was killed in a jihadi attack near Narbal on the outskirts of the in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
The deceased has been identified as R Thirumani, a resident of Chennai. He suffered severe head injuries after being hit by a stone in the morning, a police official said. He succumbed to injuries at the SKIMS hospital, Soura. A case has been registered at the local police station.

Condemning the killing of the tourist, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said, ” It is very sad and heartbreaking. My head hangs in shame.”

She met the bereaved family members of the tourist in Srinagar. NC Working President Omar Abdullah said in a tweet, “We”ve killed a tourist by throwing stones at the vehicle he was travelling in. Let”s try and wrap our heads around the fact that we stoned a tourist, a guest, to death while we glorify these stone pelters and their methods.”

Two other tourists, including Thirumani”s mother, were also injured in the attack. Several incidents of violent protests and attacks have been reported in various parts of the state after five Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were neutralised in Shopian.
