Hyderabad: RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale said no government can succeed in democracy without active participation of people. “Minimum government and maximum governance should be the norm. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s mygov.in is an enabling platform for people’s participation in decision making,” he said releasing Telugu translation of ‘Swaraj Se Suraj Tak’ by former Union Minister the late Anil Madhav Dave on March 1. The function was jointly organised by Sri Sivaji Sphoorthi Kendram, Srisailam, Social Cause and Chetana.
Shri Hosabale further said active participation of people in governance is a safeguard for democracy. “There are many lessons in Shivaji’s governance model that have great salience for today’s rulers and there must be a deeper study of his governance model,” he added.
Shri Srinivas Udumudi, president of Indian Academy, called for a deeper and sincere effort to understand the indigenous knowledge systems to find solutions to the problems being faced by the country today. Shri P Subba Reddy, representative of G Pullaredddy Educational Institutions and Shri Somaraju Suseela, president of Social Cause and Shri M Suryanarayana Murthy also spoke. The book, published by Sri Sivaji Sphoorthi Kendram, has been translated by senior journalist Shri K Raka Sudhakar Rao.
Negating Maucaulay’s myths
Hyderabad: A book, ‘Interrogating Maucaulay’s Children’, focusing on the positive aspects of Bharat as documented by scholars from across the world in the last five centuries, was released on March 4. The book negates the poor image of India as painted by the elements motivated by Macaulay and his idea of India. It has been written by Sri K Satyadeva Prasad and published by Centre for Integral Research, Samvit Kendra. Sri Prasad is a researcher in Bharatiya knowledge system and a regular contributor to many Telugu and English daily newspapers.
The book, in English, refutes the charges levelled by Macaulay against Hindu knowledge system and Sanskrit in his famous Minute. It is aimed at young readers who are unaware of the machinations affected by the British to weaken the Bharatiya education and knowledge systems. UGC Member Dr Gopal Reddy, chairman of Jagriti Prakashan Trust Sri Venugopal Reddy and Sri Prasanna Deshpande released the book. n
Dina Nath Batra turns 89
New Delhi: Veteran educationist and convener of Shiksha Bachao Andolan Samiti Shri Dina Nath Batra was wished long and healthy life on his 89th birthday on March 5. Hundreds of people belonging to various organisations, particularly the educational organisations, attended the function, which began with performing a yajna by a female devotee of the Arya Samaj.
Prominent among those who applauded the work done by Shri Batra included former Union HRD Minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, leading businessman Shri Lakshmi Nivas Jhunjhunwala, Smt Satbir Bedi from National Commission for Women, Member Secretary of ICSSR Shri BK Malhotra and secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas Shri Atul Kothari. On this occasion, four books written by Shri Batra and Shri Kothari were also released. n
Bhoomipujan for New Central Office of BKS
New Delhi: Foundation stone for new central office of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh was laid on March 5 on 40th foundation day of the country’s premier farmer’s organisation. The bhoomipujan was performed by Sant Uttam Swami ji from Banswara, Rajasthan, in the presence of senior BKS leaders and workers. Build a Self-Reliant Society
Gurugram: National Cooperative Research and Development Academy was renamed after the founder of Sahkar Bharati, the late Lakshmanrao Inamdar, during his birth anniversary year. Addressing the gathering on the occasion RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat said instead of always waiting for the governments, the people should start development works themselves through cooperative. “The government works and makes schemes, but it is not right to always wait for the government to act first,” he added adding that a self- respected and self-reliant society would be built collectively and not only through the governments. Everyone should ensure one’s contribution.
Union Agriculture and Cooperative Minister Shri Radhamohan said sahkar does not prove fruitful without samskars. The late Lakshmanrao Inamdar produced an army of dedicated workers in the field of cooperative. Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal stressed on enhancing the cooperative work in northern states. Reviving Ancient Literary Tradition
Jaipur: In order to revive an old literary tradition of Bharat, Jaipur unit of Sanskrit Bharati organised ‘Ashtavadhan’ function on March 5. Noted scholar of Andhra Pradesh Shri Dorbal Prabhakar Shastri composed poetry though eight different scholars were repeatedly posing challenges before him. The way Shri Shastri composed the poetry instantly in different forms and also provided solution to the problems raised by them was astonishing. Addressing the gathering, Shri Shastri explained in detail how one can compose poetry despite various kinds of troubles being created by different people. He said the rich tradition was prevalent in Bharat during ancient time, but now very few people of this tradition survive. Apart from Ashtavadhan, he also spoke about Shatavadhan and Sahasravadhan when hundred and thousand people posed challenge simultaneously before the scholar. n
