Pune: Samajik Samarasata Manch has been working for the last three decades to eradicate social evils and restore harmonious life in the society. As part of such efforts, Sammelans of the workers engaged in writing on the issues of deprived sections is held since 1998 under the banner of Samarasata Sahitya Parishad. The 18th Sammelan in this series was held at Nagar City of Maharashtra from December 9 to 10. It was dedicated to exclusively discuss the literature of the nomadic communities.
The two-day conference witnessed the presentation of many research papers on the topic. The Sammelan began on December 9 with Shobha Yatra carrying books. The conference was presided over by noted social activist
Shri Girish Prabhune who has been working among nomadic communities for over decades. Chairman of Shirdi Sansthan and entrepreneur Dr Suresh Havare, Reception Committee chairman Shri Ashok Gandhi, chairperson of Samarasata Sahitya Parishad Dr Shyama Gonase and Shri Yashwantrao Lele of Gyan Prabodhini were
also present.
In his presidential speech Shri Prabhune said when he started working among the nomadic communities he did not know anything about them. Then he realised that the life of the nomadic communities reflects the history of the country. “The nomadic communities still have huge oral literature. But the history of each caste or community is gradually dying. It is the need of the hour that this history is written and
preserved. The farmers and nomads have close relation with the oral literature. The labourers have composed high quality literature. The paintings at Ajanta and Ellora caves show the richness of the same oral traditions. These people live the
literature and art in their daily life,” he added.
Shri Ramesh Patange apprised the gathering of the efforts going on to study the literature with social harmony angle. This year’s Sant Gadagebaba Puraskar was presented to Samtol Foundation of Mumbai, which has been working for rehabilitation of destitute and orphan children. Moropant Pingle Gau Sewa Puraskar
Pune: “The all-round development of Bharatiya agriculture, farmers and the economy is entirely dependent on the indigenous breeds of cows and their progenies. It is the
collective duty of the countrymen including the
governments to work in this direction with a clear vision and concrete action plan,” said the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Gau Sewa Pramukh Shri Shankarlal while presenting Moropant Pingle Gau Sewa Puraskars. The function was held at Kurduwadi. Minister of Animal Husbandry and Milk Shri Mahadev Jankar was the chief guest. Shri N Sheshagirirao presided over the function organised by the Gau Vigyan Sanshodhan Sanstha.
Moropant Pingle National Gau Sewa Puraskar was
presented to Swami Chinmayanand Kamdhenu Gaushala of Jalandhar for its outstanding work in research on Sahiwal breed of cows. The award comprises of a memento, cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a shawl. The State level Puraskar was presented to Shri Rajendra Sambre from Nagar and Shri Ram Akhal Tiwari from Bhadohi District of Uttar Pradesh for their innovative experiments conducted in agriculture. This Puraskar consists of a memento and cash prize of Rs 10,000 to each. Shri Bapurao Kulkarni, secretary of the Gau Vigyan Sanshodhan Sanstha conducted the proceedings. More than 1,000 farmers and gaupalaks attended the function.

Speak English, but Shun the Western Culture
Dehradun: RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi, while addressing a gathering of Sangh swayamsevaks at Parade Ground on December 9, called upon the swayamsevaks to work for harmonious Hindu society rising above all the narrow considerations. “We should not only study and learn our own languages, but also work in our own language. We may also study and learn English, but we should not blindly imitate the western culture which comes with the alien language,”
he said.
He further said the Sangh Shakha is not merely a play ground. The Shakha is the place where we learn how to make our life meaningful and socially oriented. “We have to
eradicate untouchabilty from the society. We say and accept that the God lives in every creature of the universe. Then how can we discriminate with our own people? We should not reduce our strength. Nobody is inferior in the Hindu society. It is our responsibility to make the weaker sections of the
society strong. When we talk about probity, we talk about
probity in action and mind both,” the Sarkaryavah added.
About 57 Shakhas of the Mahanagar joined the Shakha Darshan function. The RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh Shri Suresh, Kshetra Pracharak Shri Jagdish, Sampark Pramukh Shri Shashikant, Prant Pracharak Shri Yuddhabir, Sah Prant Pracharak Shri Devendra and Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Azad Singh were also
present on the occasion. n
BKS for Law on Usage of Agro Chemicals
Prabhani: Bharatiya Kisan Sangh urged the governments to enact an act to regulate the usage of agro
chemicals. A resolution to this effect was passed at its meeting held at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani, Maharashtra, from December 1 to 3. The meeting noted with grave concern the death of 27 farmers in Yavatmal and hospitalisation of many following the reaction of the harmful agro
chemicals. Prior to it, many farmers in Telangana, Odisha, Vidarbha and other regions have died due to similar reasons and many are suffering from various life threatening diseases like cancer, in Delhi and Punjab regions. The meeting noted that there is no mechanism for testing the quantity, quality, standards of the harmful chemicals on behalf of the Government authorities.
The resolution pointed out that
various pesticides, herbicides, growth promoters, micro nutrients and
repellents are available in the
market, but due to lack of proper
testing mechanism the ‘banned
chemicals’ are being sold in
abundance in the open market. The meeting urged the Government to take responsibility for arranging research personal for testing the
contents, standard, quality and the proportion of the chemicals needed according to the climatic conditions
of the agricultural regions. A Management Bill should be passed for using pesticides and agrochemicals safely. Any manufacturer which overlooks the prescribed specifications and continues the production and sales should be penalised heavily and such companies should be banned and black listed. The Glyphosate and other chemicals causing harmful
diseases should strictly be banned. The manufacturers of all types of agrochemicals should take the responsibility of educating the farmers about the safe use of chemicals. n
SJM backs Prabhu in WTO
Buenos Aires: Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) extended full support to the Indian Commerce and Industries Minister Suresh Prabhu’s stance at the 11th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation here in Argentina on December 12. At the same time it also condemned the statement issued by the US Trade Representative Ambassador Robert Emmet Lighthizer.
In a statement issued on December 12, SJM leader Dr Ashwani Mahajan said Shri Suresh Pabhu’s statement is in complete alignment with the SJM’s thoughts. “SJM expects the Minister to maintain this stand, on the table of negotiations as well. The minister articulated the desires and needs of not only those living at the bottom of pyramid back home, but also those in the developing and poor countries,” the SJM statement said adding that it is long standing demand of the SJM that World Trade Organisation (WTO) must not abandon the commitments made in the Doha Development Agenda.
“We strongly believe that the outcome of the expansion of global trade must be development, and back India’s push for re-endorsement of the same. SJM also appreciates minister’s stand on pushing for a permanent solution on the public stockholding for food security purposes. We believe that for developing countries like India, it is a matter of survival for 800 million hungry and undernourished people across the world. Instead aggregate measure of support extended by the developed countries is creating trade distortion and is harming the farmers in developing countries,” the SJM said in the statement welcoming the stand that no new agenda–investment facilitation, E-commence & others— will be brought for
discussion before agenda items
are complete.
The SJM strongly criticised the stance taken by the US trade representative. “The world is not a homogenous mix of demography. There has to be a differential application of rules, depending on the well being of the economies. It is quite arrogant of the US administration of believing that countries are seeking pass in the name of ‘self-proclaimed development’ status, indicating that five of the six richest countries in the world presently ‘claim’ developing country status. This list includes India. But, the US must realise that the level of development is not the same. In days to come, SJM would ask the US administration to come clean on these charges,” the statement said. n
Accord National Heritage Status to Ram Setu: VHP
New Delhi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad welcomed the statement made by American scientists, archaeologists and the Discovery Channel regarding the Ram Setu being it a man-made structure. VHP joint general secretary Dr Surendra Kumar Jain said NASA satellite images had already pointed towards the Ram Setu being a man-made structure. The new scientific findings clearly indicate that not only Ram Setu but Bhagwan Sri Ram also is a part of the rich history of India.
Dr Jain also said that these
findings are a tight slap on those people who had been raising questions on the very existence of Sri Ram and used to call Him a fictional character. These people were
insulting Hindu beliefs under the guise of a conspiracy to negate the existence of Sri Ram. This conspiracy was started by the British who wanted to strike at the root of Indian civilisation because they knew that this root was firmly entwined with Sri Ram. “It is really shameful that even after Independence some politicians and biased historians have
questioned the existence of Sri Ram. All these people and the Congress President Rahul Gandhi should now apologise to the nation for the
affidavit they had submitted
questioning Sri Ram’s existence,” Dr Jain said in the statement. The VHP demanded that Ram Setu should be declared a monument of national importance so that no one ever dares to question it again. n
