Janaraksha Yatra/ Report : BJP TakesKerala by Storm

The combination of Red and Jihadi terror in Kerala has been discussed at the national level. Under the Communist regime, many people of Kerala could not speak against it fearing atrocities. The Janaraksha Yatra of BJP gave space and voice to many of these suppressed voices

T Satisan from Kochi

The Janaraksha Yatra launched at Payyannur, Kannur district, on October 3, 2017, led by BJP president Kummanm Rajasekharan, culminated in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram on October 17, 2017.  National president Amit Shah came to Kerala for both flagging off the Yatra and addressing the valedictory programme. It attracted the attention of the entire population of the state. That national president walked 9 km after flagging off the programme, itself showed the significance party found in the Yatra. The impact it brought on the political  scenario of the state is beyond any political observer’s imagination. The people of Kerala accorded hearty welcome to the Yatra wherever it traversed. The number of the participants in the Yatra, the public meetings on the way and the number of the viewers lined up on either side of the roads proved that BJP is no more a party which does not take off in Kerala; it has captured the attention, bagged the love, affection, regards and respects of the masses. They were admitting that the idea behind the Yatra is genuine and justifiable. They were convinced that BJP is the only party which keeps on fighting against the Jihadi forces and the murder politics of CPM.

‘Chief Minister Vijayan killed Ramakrishnan with an Axe’: Eye Witness

The political ecstasy created by the Yatra boosted the morale of hundreds of thousands of Keralites who were scared to take stand in favour of BJP due to the political vendetta they expected from CPM. Apparently people got a politically and legally important revelation from Rajan and Umesh, the friends of the slain Vadikkal Ramakrishnan, the first RSS martyres of Kerala at the hands of communists. He was killed on April 28, 1969. Both informed the media that they saw Pinarayi Vijayan hacking Ramakrishnan with an axe used for breaking granite.
After they revealed this to Janam TV, police has taken their statement. BJP has been weighing the legal options in this regard. Meanwhile Vadikkal’s widow Leela has demanded reinvestigation into her husband’s murder. Vadikkal had been killed few months after his marriage to Leela. Still, she opted to live in her husband’s house and now making and selling sweets for making her both ends meet.  Last year RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini had stated that Pinarayi was the first accused in the said murder. Later the concerned page of the court document went viral on social media.

The people of Kerala found that the state unit of the nationalist party and its sister organisations are not alone in the fight for peace and organisational freedom. They were witnessing several political luminaries from all over the country coming down to the southern tip to express and declare their solidarity to their ideological brotherhood. Several chief ministers, union ministers, state ministers, MPs, MLAs and party functionaries flew in to grace the Yatra and participate in it.
Manohar Pareekkar, Yogi Adithyanath, Susheelkumar Modi, Smriti Irani, Nithin Gadakari, Shivaraj Singh Chouhan, Sadananda Gowda, Giriraj Singh, Meenakshi Lekhi, Alphons Kannanthanam, Suresh Gopi MP, Richard Hey MP, K L Santosh, Nalin Kattil MP, Murukanand, Arun Singh, Dhara Singh Chouhan, Gen V K Singh, Pon Radhakrishnan, Dr  Mahesh Sharma, Dharmendra Pradhan, Abdul Rasheed Ansari, H Raje, Manoj Tiwari, Devendra Fadnavis and Satyapal Singh were a few among them.

An ISIS module has been busted in Kannur, a bastion of the ruling CPM in Kerala on October 25. The state police arrested five people in connection with ISIS in Kannur.
The arrested were identified as Rasheed, Razzaq, Mithilaj, UK Hamsa and Manaf. According to the police, Rasheed, Razzaq and Mithilaj, natives of Thalassery, had received ISIS training from Turkey. They were trying to enter Syria when they were intercepted by Turkish authorities and deported to India four months ago. The other two, UK Hamsa and Manaf, have direct connections with international terrorist leaders. UK Hamsa aka Taliban Hamsa is believed to be the chief recruiter who has been operating from West Asia since 1998. They have been charged under the sections 38, 39 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Amidst the fresh arrests, NIA has taken another ISIS terrorist from Kannur, Shajahan Velluva Kandy alias Mohamed Ismail Mohideen in the custody for questioning further. He was arrested by Delhi police at Indira Gandhi airport in July. Turkey Government captured him and deported to India as he was trying to cross Syrian border along with his wife.
Meanwhile, local media reports, quoting the Police, suggest that the
suspected IS terrorists have close links to Popular Front of India. According to the preliminary reports, at least three of them were active workers of Popular Front of India, the new face of banned terrorist outfit SIMI.
Despite several arrests have been made in connection  with ISIS, so far the LDF Government has been in denial mode. The Janaraksha Yatra led by BJP had raised ‘growing JIhadi violence and ISIS influence in Kerala’ as their main slogan. But the ruling CPM and mainstream media snubbed it. The incident has underscored the relevance of Janaraksha Yatra for the national interest and security beyond  politics.    —Organiser Bureau

The major impact is the kick off of real political polarisation in the state. Since BJP raised the slogans against Jihadi forces harboured by both CPM-led LDF and Congress-led UDF and the murder politics being unleashed by CPM in the state, they captured the imagination of the Keralites. It exposed the adjustment politics both Fronts have been enjoying since the last several decades. Mammoth crowds congregated to hear the leaders of BJP wherever they addressed public meetings. The people realised the gravity of the Islamic terror enveloping the state day by day with the help of the vote bank politics of both LDF and UDF and killer politics of CPM. They realised that their life is not safe in the hands of these political twins. And, they found the emergence of a third force in the form of a national and nationalistic party which rules at centre and more than two-third of the entire territory and the population.
Both Fronts indulged in mudslinging and in showering abuses against BJP and its Janaraksha Yatra is the
barometer to measure the worries, anxieties and sense of insecurity they suffer pertaining to their future political prospects. When Amit Shah had to return to Delhi due to some matters of paramount significance, both CPM and Congress went to utter senseless statements that Shah went back due to the lack of crowd in the Yatra and he was scared to walk through the CPM party villages in the constituency of CM Pinarayi Vijayan.  This statement exposed the double standards CPM maintains: They used to say that CPM is not violent and it was RSS who goes  for killing the political opponents, read CPM and members of minority communities! But, when they said that Amit Shah left for Delhi due to fear complex, they were admitting that there is enough reason for the scare in their party villages.
Addressing the valedictory rally of the Jan Raksha Yatra, BJP chief Amit Shah declared that LDF would soon succumb its own murder politics just like Congress fell due to its corrupt and dynastic rule. He added that CPM violence cannot kill BJP’s ideology. The more mud Pinarayi Vijayan slings against BJP, the more lotus would bloom in Kerala. He lambasted CPM leader Yechury for questioning BJP rallies outside the head offices of the other parties. Shah said, his party only talks about development, because they are concerned about the country. But, CPM attacks BJP’s Kerala head office with bombs. He warned, CPM would be thrown out if they ignore development and concentrate in violence and hatred against political opponents. He asked Pinarayi if the mandate he got was for development or liquidation of other parties.
Amit Shah said, violence is the trademark of communists. Political murders multiply when they come to power. Thirty-four RSS/BJP workers were killed when CPM was in power between 1996 and 2001, Twenty-eight were killed between 2006 and 2011. And, 13 were killed since 2016 after Pinarayi took over. He alleged that CPM and Congress have forged a secret understanding, hence no legal action has been taken against former Congress CM Oommen Chandy after his indictment by a judicial commission. Pictures of RSS/BJP martyres were displayed in all public meetings. General public was shocked to see the pictures of numerous martyres and their mutilated bodies.
Since similar rallies were carried out in Delhi and all parts of the country CPM has gone defensive. They have felt that they are exposed. The BJP and other Sangh inspired movements and the general public believe that this situation may bring some qualitative changes in the CPM’s killing spree.
BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan spoke to Organiser post the fantastic Yatra he carried out. He said that since BJP leaders from all over the country came to participate in the Yatra for an important cause and they walked in the Yatra, they were sharing their concern about a common issue. It is the exposition of national integrity. It proves the understanding among the party leaders and the rank file belonging to different states for mutual co-operation. It proved that Kerala is not alone in its fight against CPM’s violence and murder politics.
Kummanam further stated that CPM and Congress can never beat BJP ideologically, hence they went for negative publicity against the Yatra. But, the huge crowds came to participate in the Yatra and to attend the public
meetings. All this made it clear that BJP has emerged as the alternative force against both LDF and UDF. National leaders, four chief ministers, one deputy chief minister, several union ministers, MPs, MLAs, leaders of the party, Mahila-Yuva-Minorities-ST/SC Morchas and the rank and file from different parts of the country participated in the Yatra.
Not less a person than party’s national president flagged off the Yatra and addressed the valedictory
programme. When he returned to Delhi for some urgent meetings, CPM propagated that he was scared to touch Pinarayi’s region and therefore went back! It means, CPM admitted that there is something to be afraid of in that area. It contradicts their stand that everything was calm and quiet in Kerala! This statement revealed the party’s double standard.
Kummanam added that CPM is in total confusion after the Yatra. But, one thing is important: In spite of all sorts of threats and warnings, Yatra went through the party villages in Pinarayi’s region, a first incident in the political history of Thalassery, Kannur.  Congress cannot even imagine such a programme there.
Kummanam said that the Yatra has paved the way for an important
polarisation in the state between BJP and anti-BJP forces comprising of Congress and CPM and their Fronts. The opinion makers in other parts of the country are now realising that the rumour mills of CPM and other Left forces were misguiding them with utter lies. This is going to bring a welcome change in the intellectual realm of the country.     n
