News Round-Up : Walk together for Bharat
Kolkata: “We may have different chitt (mind), but despite that we can walk together. There may be a difference in opinion, but for Bharat, we have to walk together,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Sister Nivedia on October 3 at Science City Auditorium.
He said in spite of a conflict between the Hindus and Muslims, one day both the communities will have to find a solution and the path for solution is the ‘Hindu way’. Recalling his brief conversation with a Muslim scholar, he referred to Sister Nivedita’s idea of nationalism and said: “A former MP and Muslim scholar once asked me why I opposed the Sachar Committee recommendations. He admitted that all of them were once Hindus. Since they had a habit of singing bhajans (when they were Hindus), they are into Qawwali now. He had said the Sachar Committee will help them understand their history through education and then the conflict will end forever. I told him that I am aware of these facts but the problem is that the people whom he represents are not aware of these facts. I told him to educate his people and I would withdraw my opposition.”
Sister Nivedita had said there cannot be nationalistic feeling in the country if people continue to fight against each other. She had stressed on learning from the Europeans how to rid ourselves of internal differences. Shri Bhagwat’s visit to Kolkata turned into a controversy after the authorities at Mahajati Sadan had denied permission on September 6 to hold the event. His visit was closely monitored by the State Government. Ever since Mamata Banerjee came to power in West Bengal, the Sangh’s membership in the State has increased by nearly five times. Not only the Hindus, but several leaders from Muslim community also have joined the RSS and are working for rural development in the State.
Meerut: People of Meerut celebrated Valmiki Jayanti with much fanfare under the aegis of Sewa Bharati. An impressive gathering of all sections of the Hindus presented a picture of social unity. A community feast followed in which all partook without any feeling of untouchability. Many a participants who was politically affiliated with BSP or DS4 visibly got overwhelmed at the sight.
VHP general secretary (organisation) Shri Dinesh Chandra said according to Valmikiji, all Hindus, whether Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra, were all progeny of Prajapati Kashyap and one of his wives, Manu. Hence, they are all a family. Keeping this in mind, all the Dharmacharyas gathered at Udupi in 1969, gave the inspiring incantation—“Hindave sodara sarve, na Hindu patito bhavet” (All Hindus are real brethren, none is low or fallen). The VHP and RSS were all for the spirit enunciated in these words.
Shri Rakesh Jain, organising secretary of the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati (RSB), said over 1.70 lakh service projects being conducted by the RSS workers are meant to serve the underprivileged. He said a total of 965 social sewa organisations are affiliated to the RSB. Local MP Shri Rajendra Agrawal emphasised the need to strengthen the society by eradicating untouchability and create a cohesive one as envisioned in the Ramayana. Didi felicitated with Amrita Keerthi Puraskar
Thrissur: Former president of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, and presently the chairperson of Vivekananda Kendra Vedic Vision Foundation, Thrissur, Dr M Lakshmikumari has been felicitated with Amrita Keerthi Puraskar, an annual award Amma gives to a selected personality par excellence for his/her contribution to the society. Now, she is spearheading a spiritual education movement on the basis of great Sanantan Dharma. Receiving the Puraskar Didi said that Amma recognises even the humble personalities, just like Sri Ram recognised the contribution of a squirrel in the construction of Ram Sethu. The award was presented during the 64th birthday celebrations of Amma.

No onslaught could bend Hindus
Mathura: “Hindus have faced countless onslaughts, unbearable atrocities and many even sacrificed their lives, but they never relinquished their way of worship. Spirituality and saints played a key role in keeping the morale of the society high even in those circumastances,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, while inaugurating Manasi Dhyan Kendra at Nikunj Van Ashram of Sant Vijay Kaushal Maharaj. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present.
Shri Bhagwat called upon the youth to work for protection of the country and dharma also. “Many times some youth shout highly energetic slogans in the meetings, but when they leave the meeting places they forget that enthusiasm,” he added.
Baba Ramdev said everyone should contribute in the GDP growth of the country. Yogi Adityanath said Bharat would remain Bharat till temples and saints are there in every locality of the villages and cities. He pointed out that around 12 lakh saints are working for spiritual awakening in the country. He described the RSS as the strongest wall for protection. Swami Shri Roop Koshore Das, Guru of Shri Vijay Kaushal Maharaj, and the National Book Trust (NBT) chairman Shri Baldev Bhai Sharma were also present. — Mukesh Goswami
Valour needed to protect the freedom
New Delhi: “A highly civilised society is not the guarantee of victory. We had big libraries and world-class universities. The Indian economy was the strongest. We were the best in thinking and practice. Even then we lost battles and remained slave for centuries. Only scholarship and high economic growth are not enough. One needs valour also to protect them,” said the RSS Sahsarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal, while remembering the last Hindu King of Delhi Hemchandra Vikramaditya on his coronation day on October 7.
National organising secretary of Itihas Sankalan Samiti Shri Balmukund Pandey and joint organising secretary of VHP Shri Vinayakrao Deshpande also shared the dais.
The function was jointly organised by the VHP and Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya Rajyabhishek Samaroh Samiti at Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti.
Dr Krishna Gopal said Hemchandra Vikramaditya had regained the power of Delhi from Mughals. But he lost the Battle of Panipat. “Victory or defeat are important but every victory and defeat requires analysis,” he said. Shri Balmukund Pandey explained how the Indian history was distorted. Shri Vinayakrao Deshpande expressed concern why the history was not corrected even after seven decades of Independence by the successive governments in the country.
