It’s a million dollar question as to whether the CPI-M has the patience to continue with the peace initiative or to draw the dagger at every little provocation

When the RSS Basti Karyavahak, S L Rajesh of Edavaokode was singing the sangh prarthana at his Matrusakha, he would never have expected that this was his last prarthana. However the CPI-M criminals sitting in AKG Centre had other plans. They had already dispatched killer squads to maim and kill Rajesh. After the local Shakha, Rajesh and two swayamsevaks were standing near a shop to buy essentials for home, when the killer squad of CPI-M pounced on him, lynched Rajesh with axes, swords and scalpels, removed his left hand, threw it away, right hand almost severed and both the legs on the verge of severing from the body. This was how Rajesh was in a few minutes after he sang his last Sangh prarthana. He was taken to the nearby hospital with his body wrapped in a bed sheet as he could not be held in hands. This is the savagery of CPI-M which they are repeating in cyclic effect and which we have seen in Kannur District with this correspondent attending several funerals of our swayamsevaks including the BJP Kannur District secretary Panniaynoor Chandran who was maimed and killed by a CPI-M killer squad on May 25th 1996 days after the Left Front under CPI-M assumed office and the Yuva Morcha State vice president K T Jayakrishnan who was killed on December 1st, 1999 while he was teaching his little wards in Mokeri East UP School. Still CPI-M is telling out lies which make even the biggest liar of all times, Goebbels turn in his graveyard in shame. Several are dead and several to follow if this trend of brutality continues. There is no semblance of hope on the part of the CPI-M to honour the commitment that they have given to the RSS and BJP leaders who attended the one to one peace conference called by the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the insistence of the State Governor Justice P Sathasivam who had summoned him and the State police chief the previous day to get a first hand report. (untold in the history of State).
The killer squad included Manikuttan who has several criminal cases under him and was detained in Central prison Poojapura, Thiruvananthapuram under Kerala Anti Social Prevention Act (KAPA) and was released just days before the murder. The CPI-M has already formulated several such killer squads across the State with the former Thalassery area secretary Karayi Rajan heading it .Incidentally Karayi Rajan has shifted base to Thiruvananthapuram and ever since he has set foot here, the attacks on RSS, BJP workers by the CPI-M killer squads has started unabated with the police turning mere spectators.
The CPI-M was cleverly making ground for a major assault in Thiruvananthapuram, the State capital and the sequence of events which led to the unfortunate killing of a Sangh swayamsevak. They started preparing for the bloodbath by attacking the BJP State committee office at 1.30 am knowing fully well that the party State president Kummanam Rajashekaran, an RSS pracharak, is staying there. The attack was led by the CPI-M councilor of Thiruvananthapuram corporation I P Binu who is a known history sheeter of Thiruvananthapuram city from his student days. The goons who barged into the BJP State committee office destroyed several cars, and threw stones and hurled country bombs at the party State committee office inflicting grave damage to the building as well as the vehicles which were parked there including the vehicle of the party State president. Although the local police arrived at the scene, barring one valiant Police officer, the rest of the force were mere spectators. The Police officer who did his duty was manhandled and had to be admitted to a hospital following injuries inflicted by the raging CPI-M goons.
There was some retaliation on certain buildings and properties of CPI-M leaders and this led to a massive attack in several places by the CPI-M goons who were working overtime to attack Sangh workers ably supported and guided by AKG Centre, the CPI-M State headquarters, the police were made mere scarecrows and the party leaders and cadres had a field day in attacking and inflicting damages to properties of RSS and BJP offices.
The scene suddenly transformed into one from attacking offices and buildings into direct attack on individuals and party workers and sangh swayamsevaks with the police turning away at the insistence of the CPI-M State office whose control was fully under the CPI-M State secretary Kodieyri Balakrishnan, a veteran criminal leader from Thalassery who himself was arraigned in the murder of RSS leader Karimbil Satheesshan in Thalayi, Thalasseri in 1980.
It may be noted that the blood bath of Kerala started when a group of CPI-M assailants attacked and killed the RSS Vadikkal Shakha Mukya Shikshak, Vadikkal Ramakrishnan in 1969, a case in which the present Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan was an accused and locals are of the opinion that he was directly involved in the murder.
The initiative for peace taken by both the sides has now percolated down to the District level, with the district leadership of both the organisations met and chalked out schemes which can bring down the political attacks and killing. The meetings were held in Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam which will be soon followed at Kannur on August 5th. While both the leadership are positive on the outcome of the meeting and the valuable time spent by both the organisations has led to the belief that peace prevails and that CPI-M does not take to arms again.
The RSS, BJP leadership will consider this as an opportunity to work closely with each other so as to avoid local level clashes and to bring to an immediate settlement between the two warring factions. However it may be recalled that the BJP leadership had never had any problems in adhering to the peace arrived at the conference, it’s a million dollar question as to whether the CPI-M has the patience to continue with the peace initiative or to draw the dagger at every little provocation. This has always been the situation in Kannur and other parts of the State when there is a long drawn battle with the CPI-M on one side and all other political parties on the other side. The spate of killings which occurred in Kannur district with its epicenter in Thalassery affected several families with their bread winner being brutally killed without even honouring the commitment of non violence which takes place between the warring factions.
If the CPI-M does not go back on the commitment it has given in the meetings held with the Chief Minster and the CPI-M State secetary, Kodiyeri Balakrishan then there are possibilities of a new dawn of peace in Kerala. The meetings at the district level held at Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam was well conducted and if it turns to a success and if it continues than there can be reduction in the criminal activities conducted by the CPI-M.
