The shaming of the CPM continues as they only

pretend to take care of Dalits

CPM has been anti-Dalit since long  despite their claim that they had done more than what Sree Narayana Guru had done for the upliftment of the Hindus belonging to backward communities. CPM’s anti-Dalit drive has assumed geometrical progression since they took over power last year. The latest report is from Killi, Kattakkada Panchayat in Thiruvanathapuram district. It is about the pathetic treatment Smt  Kumari, a staunch CPM worker and her family got from the party.
Anil Vilappil, BJP Kattakkada Mandalam General Secretary said that Kumari’s family, right from her  grandmother and mother have been  living in a 22 cents plot  for the last more than 90 years. Their land lies close to a large land belonging to a different owner. Kumari’s house was
constructed by Vellanad Block Panchayat in 1992. Few years ago, the roof of the house turned dilapidated and the Kattakkada panchayat renovated it for the family in 2004. Kumari’s family has been paying the land tax without fail. They all do have ration cards, Aadhar cards, Election IDs and they are all in the voters’ list since long. In 1966, the
family of I.Saju, the present Thiruvananthapuram District Secretary of DYFI, the youth wing of CPM, bought the adjacent large land and settled down. The things were smooth until 2004 when the applecart of their peaceful life got the first jolt. Saju’s father Ismalil Kannu, a rich and socially accepted man, claimed that Kumari’s land was a part of his land hence it belonged to him. He tried to evict the family from there. Since she also belonged to CPM, Ismail could not use force. As Kumari had the required locus standi with her as the owner of the land, she did not submit to Ismail’s diktat. Kumari, being a sincere and ardent CPM cadre, did not know that Ismail was hand in glove with the party she trusted! The conspiracy was going on. Ismail filed the suit. Interestingly he became “conscious of his claim” when 38 years were over since he bought the land and settled down there! When the civil case procedure started, Kumari could not pay the land tax.
RTI documents say, Kumari’s land had been subjected to resurvey of both 1972 and 1994. The title documents of Ismail describe Kumari’s land as the border of his land. He had given a piece of his land to his daughter; her title
documents also show Kumari’s land as the border.
Then CPM approached her, consoled her and promised that they would facilitate her court case like engaging a lawyer, spending the money, organising the documents, etc.  But, the poor woman did not know that it was the usual CPM strategy to cheat until she heard about the ex-party judgment against her. Then only she understood that party had neither engaged any lawyer nor submitted any document in her favour. She even says that the judge wondered why the accused failed to defend her case! After losing the legal battle, CPM leaders approached her again and promised her once again to do the needful to approach the higher court for filing the appeal. She was once again betrayed the same way as it happened in the first instance. BJP leader Anil said to Organiser that after the second defeat the then CPM area committee secretary (and the current MLA) IG Satishsummoned Kumari to the local CPM office and told her that she would not get any land as she had lost the legal fight. But, he would persuade Ismail to give her 10 cents (as a token of magnanimity)!
By that time Ismail sought the court’s action to execute the judgment. The court took the action and Kumari’s house was demolished with JCB. Then the BJP men brought the entire family to the village office. Since then BJP is agitating for ensuring justice to the Dalit family. Dharnas, public meetings, etc. are going on. Within a few days, BJP national executive member PK Krishnadas is going to carry out a vehicle propaganda yatra throughout the constituency. Now, the homeless Kumari and her eight
member family including husband, her old mother, sister and children live on the verandah of the village office.
The natives of the area say that CPM has always been supporting the rich despite the tall promises of pro-Dalit and pro poor policy.
