Challenges to Face
(Message of the Mandate, March 26); This refers to the front page story of Organiser titled ‘Message of the Mandate’ by Ratan Sharda. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi set the right tone for the Bharatiya Janata Party when he said that the massive wins should humble its workers and leaders and propel them to perform with greater dedication and responsibility. And it will be good for the party leaders and workers down to the grass roots, to take Shri Modi’s remarks to heart, because there is always a lurking danger that landslide victory can make governments complacent and arrogant.  The BJP’s stunning victory in Uttar Pradesh has affirmed that the Modi wave is intact despite of all baseless and dirty tricks by the Opposition to defame Modi. The verdict is the people’s stamp of approval on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and also an indication of people’s
unfailing faith in his credibility and sincerity in serving the cause of the country. Secular parties, which
pursued the politics of caste and community for vote banks, and intended to make unholy alliance to keep the BJP out of power, have been cut to size. Having received sabka saath, the BJP has now the big challenge of ensuring sabka vikas and letting no section of the society feel neglected or discriminated.

It is Wrong to Generalise

It is tragic that an engineer was shot dead in the US in what appears to be a racial hate crime. The killer (a Navy veteran) shouted, “Get out of my country”, before he shot dead the victim(Srinivas Kuchibhotla) and injured another Indian. American laws are strong enough to deal with such incidents and one must hope that the murderer will be punished soon than later. It would be wrong, however to generalise that hate crimes against Indians, or non-Whites, are becoming part of the American DNA. Let us not forget that a White man, who was at the scene of the incident, had taken a bullet on his body while trying to stop the shooter and then nab him. The brave heart later remarked that it was “not about where he is from or ethnicity” but that “we are all humans”.US authorities are as much in shock as India is over this senseless killing. But , just as it would be inappropriate to view the incident as part of some trend in the US to target the
non-Whites under whatever garb, it would be mischievous to attribute it to the policies of President Donald Trump. In the first place there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the shooter was motivated by President Trump’s stand on immigrants. And even if he were to claim so, it doesn’t mean that President Trump had ever suggested killing as a means to tackle the issue. All that the new President had stated is that he would like to have stricter checks on people coming to the US, especially from the terror infected regions of the world .Yes, he did impose travel bans on people from certain regions or ethnic denominations. This is not the first time that such an incident has happened .Isolated
incidents of hate crime have happened before President Trump took charge, and yet none then suggested that the positions of the Presidents of that time were responsible for the tragedies. Blacks had been targeted during President Obama’s tenure as well. In any case, the matter is too complicated to lend itself to a simple answer, and the US courts are presently seized with the legalities of the issue.

Don’t Communalise Terror
The killing of terrorists with either an Islamic State (IS) link, or under influence of the IS, is a victory for the Uttar Pradesh anti-terrorism squad as well as the intelligence system of the country. The existence of the IS Khorasan module in India is alarming. The group’s handler is monitoring internet chats of youngsters and recruiting them through perusing chats posted online. This shows how desperate the IS is, to make huge inroads into India. While the need of the hour is to pat the back of multi-State Police forces that provided inputs for the ‘Lucknow Operation’ to happen, and boost the morale of the Police, how did the Congress react? It was as usual finding reasons for the radicalisation of the young Muslims and asking them why only the poor and the uneducated are drawn towards the IS. Communalisation of terror reflects the sad state of Indian politics. Politicians must take a cue from slain terrorist Saifullah’s father who said, “A traitor cannot be even my relative, let alone be my son.”

Pakistan Fears
The 2008 Mumbai attacks remain a bone of contention between India and Pakistan, with India sore that the alleged architect of the attacks continues to roam free. But perhaps not any more, with the house arrest of Hafiz Saeed. Why has Saeed suddenly become the focus of attention in Pakistan is unclear, but there are strong back story indications that America has been twisting the arms of the Pakistan government and Pakistan has little choice but to comply. The mood of the new Trump Administration suggests that it has the capacity to make stern responses to what it sees as either a threat or non-compliance. With the possibility of visa ban in the middle –distance, compliance—at least in terms of
minimal response—was the least–worst option. India is not happy with the development but past experience would make it wary. For India, given the depth of anger still evident regarding the Mumbai attacks, a slap on the wrist for Saeed is not be a game-changer.

Time to expose anti-nationals
(DU’s date with anti-nationals,March 5); This refers to the report, “DU’s date with anti-nationals” by Gaurav Jha published in Organiser. The violence introduced in Delhi University on 22.02.2017 should be thoroughly probed and the culprits need be exposed and punished. Those who shout azadi of Bastar, Kashmir etc should be asked the following questions:
1.    Did Pakistan give such azadi to East Pakistanis?
2. Can Pakistan give azadi to Balochis?
3. Can they demand the azadi of Tibet from China?
4. Can the azadi seeking Muslims have the azadi to change their faith or at least becoming  atheists or agnostics?
It is high time the anti-nationals are exposed, named and shamed.

Why blame ABVP, when
culprit is someone else
One needs to commend the role that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has been playing in exposing the anti-nationals who are out to defame the country by targeting educational institutions. For decades, these elements have been operating unabated in our universities and polluting the minds of young minds. Infesting anti-national notions in the minds of students has been their key strategy. It is no secret that the ABVP was opposed to the idea of inviting JNU student Umar Khalid  and Shehla Rashid to address  a seminar at the Ramjas College, which was subsequently cancelled. However to put the blame on the ABVP for the protests that followed the next day with a lot of violence is misleading. Under the guise of ABVP many anti- social elements started the violence just to defame the ABVP. Persons involved in the violence must be nabbed and the law must take its course.

Use the term mazhab while speaking for Islam and Christianity
(Edifice of Rashtra, January, 1); This refers to the article titled ‘Edifice of Rashtra’ by Gopal Maller in Organiser. He has very nicely explained the difference between dharma and religion, and aptly said that, “To identify dharma with religion is nothing short of comparing cheese with chalk”. Manusmriti mentions ten attributes of dharma like courage, forgiveness, firmness of mind, no theft, purity of mind and actions, restraining of senses, intelligence, knowledge, truth and renouncing anger, all these are to lead virtuous life and universal in nature. It is observed that on all Hindi channels, term dharma is indiscriminately used, even for Islam. TV anchors are in the habit of uttering bombastic and uncommon Persian and Arabic words, but would mention Islamic maulavis as ‘Muslim Dharma Guru’, despite the fact, that teachings of Islam consider all sins as pious duty of a true Muslim. Even so-called liberal Muslims would never criticise the so-called heroes of Islam. I would request and suggest all spokes persons of Sangh Parivar to use the term mazhab while speaking for Islam and Christianity and never dharma, and also explain to others the difference between dharma and religion. In English also term dharma should be used and not Hindu religion, because Hindu is the only dharma in the whole world, of course dharma can also be used for Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism as these too teach universal moral values.

Just Frustration
Under the guise of Freedom of Speech, one cannot campaign for the disintegration of the country. The Left-liberals, the pseudo secularists and the jholawallahs are enraged because of the BJP’s clean sweep in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Ever since in power, the Modi government‘s popularity has seen a rise and India is on the path of progress to become a super power—both economically and politically.
