Serious attacks and counter attacks take place between CPM and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) workers in Thanur, Malappuram district.  Many people are injured including three police officers. Properties worth Rs 2.5 crore have been destroyed. About thirty houses and several vehicles have been damaged. Police fired three rounds to disperse the violent groups. League leaders accuse that police entered the houses of their workers, smashed the windows and damaged the appliances and even harassed the women.
CPM leaders keep mum about it. People wonder what would CPM have done if these sorts of attack  would have taken place in a  BJP-ruled state.

SFI’s fascism in Thrissur College

Teachers and non-SFI student bodies demand strict actions against SFI men in Thrissur Sree Kerala Varma College in the wake of the manhandling of a lady teacher during the Woman’s Day Celebrations in the campus.  SFI goons led by the college union chairman unleashed attacks against the celebrations and they beat the lady teacher of Philosophy department and pushed her down. The attack took place despite the requests from the Principal and Professors not to go for that. College had taken disciplinary actions against an SFI worker for his bad behaviour against the same lady teacher some time back. It is reported, that is the reason behind this attack. The attackers locked the college gate to prevent the teachers and the guests from going out.

Collectorate Bomb Blast: Accused gives Statement
Shamsoon Karim Raja, the second accused in the Kollam Collectorate Bomb Blast Case, gave statement, during the evidence collection in the site that Abbas Ali, the first accused had instructed him to plant the bomb. The place was selected due to the easy chance for escape. They had also made sure that there were no CCTV cameras. After planting the bomb he boarded a Thenkashi (Tamil Nadu) bus which had already moved from the bus stand.
Mud-slinging against RSS: MLA complains to the Speaker
Senior BJP leader O Rajagopal complained to the Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly against misusing the name of RSS on the floor of House by the members. Rajagopal visited the Speaker in his offices and requested him to expunge such unwarranted comments from the records. Assembly proceedings have nothing to do with RSS; still members drag it to the floor. To mention the name of an organisation which is not represented in the House is against the proceedings. Speaker agreed to consider the demand.
IS presence in the CPM bastion
There are reports that IS does have presence in Thalasserry, Vadakara and Malappuram, all belonging to Malabar region. Thalasserry and Vadakara are the strong holds of CPM. Some IS men were arrested from Kanakamala, Thalassery in October, 2016. Most of them are Gulf returnees and two of them are above 50. One of them had tried to go to Syria for participating in IS activities. It is reported that one of them was in touch with the top brass of IS and spoke to its spokesperson. He was reported to have accepted money from a Nigerian  when he was in Gulf. Most of them had worked in Mujahid organisations before getting attracted to IS. They are propagating the speeches of American preacher Anvar-Al-Avlakki, who was killed by an unmanned American plane in 2011. There are reports about top intelligence confirmation that IS activists are present in Southern Kerala also.
