Shimla: Sangh Shiksha Vargas have special significance in the RSS functioning. They are integral part of building dedicated and committed workers. Such camps are organised either in May-June when the temperature is more than 45 degree or in January when the temperature is below zero degree. One such RSS first year Sangh Shiksha Varga is now going on in Shimla since January 8. A total of 205 swayamsevaks between the age group of 16 to 40 years are undergoing training in the camp. These swayamsevaks are from 150 different places of the State.
It is a different kind of camp on several counts. It is first of its kind camp in Shimla. Secondly, the day it began, there was huge snow fall in the eastern parts of the State. There was about 2 to 3 feet snow fall in Shimla also. There was about 1.5 feet of snow at the camp venue. Since the roads were blocked due to snow fall, many swayamsevaks reached Shimla by walking 15 to 20 kms and some walked fur even 100 kms. At the time when the temperature of the city is below -3 degree, water and electricity supply has been adversely affected and the entire life has come to a standstill, the swayamsevaks are undergoing training with full enthusiasm.
RSS unites the people on positive agenda
New Delhi: “One of the biggest contributions of Dr Hedgewar is the evolution of unique organisation
science. We say the Sangh does nothing, but the swayamsevaks do everything. It is an unique thinking, which needs to be researched by the management people. Whenever I go to any IIM or any other higher education institution I tell them to conduct research on the organisational working of the Sangh,” said Shri Mukul Kanitkar, joint organising secretary of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, while releasing the book, Know About RSS during the World Book Fair in New Delhi on January 13. The book has been published by Prabhat Prakashan.
Shri Kanitkar further said the only task of the Sangh is to organise the society. Nobody is untouchable for the Sangh. The RSS does not want to build any organisation, rather it wants to unite the entire society. “Before joining the RSS one should read this book. But if one wants to understand the RSS, one should join the Sangh Shakha. There is no other way to understand the Sangh in a better way,” he added.
During the question answer session Shri Kanitkar said normally people unite against anyone. But the Sangh is an organisation, which unites the people on positive agenda. The main task of the RSS is character building. The
flexibility to change as per the changing needs also makes the Sangh stronger, he added.
Intellectuals come together at Thiruvalluvar Day
Chennai: Eminent Tamil Scholars Shri Ooran Adigalar, President of Samarasa Sanmarga Araichi Nilayam, Dr Ma Ve Pasupathi, Tamil Poet and Dr Kalanithi of Desiya Chinthanai Kazhagam spoke in one voice emphasising the need to bring out facts of Indian scientific tradition enshrined in both Tamil and Samskrit texts. They were deliberating at the Thiruvalluvar Day celebration organised jointly by Samskrita Bharati and Desiya Chinthanai Kazhagam.
Dr Kalanithi, in particular, called for ancient Indian discoveries in the field of astronomy, while Shri Ooran Adigal came out with a little known fact that Ramalinga Swamigal (Vallalar) had started a Patashala to spread Tamil, Samskrit and English 150 years ago in Vadalur, Cuddalore District. Dr Ma Ve Pasupathi emphasised the need to bring national oneness with an emphasis on linguistic variety. Vice President of Samskrita Bharati Dr R Ramachandran welcomed the gathering. A Pongal special issue of Kandeepam, a literary quarterly, was also released on the occasion.
Another heinous brutality by CPM
Palakkad: The painful death of Smt Vimala, who received serious burn injuries following fire at her house on December 28 by the CPM workers, received sharp criticism from the society. It is the latest example of CPM
brutalities on the innocent people. In a press statement on January 16 the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Prachar Pramukh Shri J Nanda Kumar said: “Smt. Vimala died today after battling burn injuries as a result of her house being set on fire on December 28, 2016 by CPM workers. Her tragic death is yet another entry to a growing list of atrocities that are being perpetuated by CPM cadre, emboldened by the return of their party to political power in 2016 Kerala Assembly elections. Since CM Pinarayi has taken office there has been an alarming trend of CPM cadre attacks on women and children. Smt Vimala is the latest victim of this
organised savagery. In the absence of any decisive action by the State government and law enforcement agencies, the political violence has intensified and been emboldened, by the dual strategies of strategic silence and open encouragement (reported in media reports) by party leaders. Today, this strategy has cost a young, vibrant woman her life under the most barbaric circumstances, where her existence was reduced to a mound of burnt flesh. She died not wishing to live anymore. Words of
condemnation are inadequate when faced with a State facilitated politicide, which is organised and relentless in its targeting of not only political and ideological opponents, but also their families and children. This brutal suppression of the principles of democracy, constitutional and human rights as well as free expression, has no place in democratic India.”
BMS demands emphasis on Village Development
New Delhi: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) urged the Government of India to provide sufficient funds for development of the labour and other social sector groups after planning meticulously and considering their total job security, wage levels and welfare. In a resolution passed at the Central Executive Committee meeting held in Pune on January 11 the BMS said “thrust has to be given to
provide minimum wages, social security, employment, health and education especially to the rural India”. “India needs Smart Villages more than the Smart Cities. It is to be remembered that the demonetisation is only one of the steps among a series of steps required for total change in the developmental
economics,” the resolution said. The resolution demanded budgetary assistance to labour and other social sector groups on a priority basis and to raise the income tax payment limit to Rs 5 lakh and in near future abolish the income tax. It also sought to push Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and social security and poverty alleviation schemes.
Sewa Bharati’s second Mobile Medical Unit inaugurated
Chennai: Chennai was ravaged during floods in 2015. Sewa Bharati Tamil Nadu did yeomen services during and after the floods. As part of such
services, a mobile medical van was launched to serve the deprived people. In continuation of those sewa
activities, the second mobile medical unit was launched on January 4. Shri Duraishankar, Sewa Bharati president, briefed the people of the activities of the Sewa Bharati. Jain Bhagyashri Swamiji blessed the gathering and said serving mankind is our culture. Swami Vimurthananda of Shri Ramakrishna Mutt said we should not do service
at the call of others, rather service should be done automatically. Members of Jain Medical Unit expressed their happiness to be part of the sewa project. Shri V Jagadeesan, Sahprant Karyavah also spoke on the

India cannot be understood on Western Parameters
Bhopal: RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya said that it is difficult to understand Bharat on the Western parameters, concepts or definitions. Political system has not been much significant in Bharat because the society here is habitual of not depending upon the government. They make their necessary arrangements themselves, which is not there in the West. Dr Vaidya was interacting with the students of Makhalal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya in Bhopal. The function was presided over by Vice Chancellor of the University Prof BK Kuthiala.
Dr Vaidya further said that India has a special place or identity in the world because of the element of spirituality. He said we accept the diversity easily because we believe that there is one supreme being in all of us. Whereas it is not there in the West. Prof Kuthiala said Indians believe in caring for others too. A book, Advertising and Marketing Communication was also released on the occasion.
Sahakar Bharati for IT exemption on dividend
New Delhi: Sahakar Bharati, the country’s premier organisation working in the field of cooperative sector, in its pre- budged suggestions to the Central Government, demanded Income Tax exemption on dividend paid by the Co Ops at the hands of its shareholders. It also said to strengthen delivery of credit in Rural areas, District Central Co Op Banks/ State Co Op Banks should be recapitalised on a continuous basis and these Banks should be encouraged to issue Rated Secured/Unsecured Bonds and raise funds classifying them as Tier-I Capital. Under Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act 2002, UCBs registered under State Co Operative Acts are not recognised as Banking Organisation, even as the UCBs registered under Multi State Co Operative Act are recognised as Banking Organisation. This anomaly needs to be corrected to facilitate quick recovery from the defaulters.
The Sahkar Bharati also said that all the UCB’s should be recognised as eligible lending institutions under the Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme. Since any amount of interest received above Rs 10,000/- p.a. by depositors on bank deposits is subjected to TDS, it is necessary that this limit be raised to at least to Rs 75,000/- p.a. to reduce hardships faced by people with small means and small depositors. So also, interest earned by senior citizens under the New Deposit Scheme announced by the Prime Minister on December 31, 2016 be completely exempted from TDS.
K Bhaskar Rao Remembered
Veteran Sangh Pracharak and second organising secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram the late K Bhaskar Rao was paid rich tribute on his death anniversary on January 12 in Lohardaga and Jashpur Nagar offices of the Kalyan Ashram. Kalyan Ashram vice president Shri Kripa Prasad Singh said Bhaskar Raoji joined the Ashram as joint organising secretary in 1984 and became organising secretary in 1985. He held that responsibility till the year 2000. The biggest contribution of his style of working was that the number of full time workers and also the projects continued to increase every year. The then President of India Shri Gyani Jail Singh laid the
foundation stone for Kalyan Ashram training centre at Randha in Dadra Nagar Haveli. Prior to joining the Kalyan Ashram, Bhaskar Rao was Prant Pracharak of Kerala for 30 years. The specialty of his working was that he mostly stayed in the Vanvasi families and never insisted on any
special facility.
Sardar Patel Football Competition by Kreeda Bharati
Jaipur: Kreeda Bharati and the Union Footbal Club jointly organised first Sardar Patel Youth Footbal Competition from January 19 to 22. Inaugurating the competition Justice Vinod Shankar Dave hoped that it would pave the way for building national and international football players. MLA Shri Surendra Pareek extended all possible help to the event. Sportspersons from 12 schools of Jaipur participated in the competition. The teams had competitions till January 22. Kreeda Bharati Jaipur president Shri Satyaprakash Gupta and many other office bearers were also present.
Tribute to Prof Gangmumei Kamei

Imphal: Prof Gangmumei Kamei passed away on January 5 at his residence in Majorkhul, Imphal. He was 76. He was admitted in Government Medical College Imphal for some time. He was suffering from some old age diseases. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
To many he was a teacher, a mentor, a guide and at a time even a friend. A professor of History at the Manipur University, Prof Kameiji was well known not only for what he taught inside the classrooms but also for his keen sense of observation, ability to strike a chord with almost anyone and perhaps here lies the most likeable aspect of the man which made him “Guruji” in true sense. What set apart the Prof for the man in him was ability to get his ideas across to young people outside the classroom.
He was an outstanding nationalist historian, renowned scholar, a brilliant author, an honest politician, a committed patriot, sweet and soft spoken kind hearted social worker and a promoter of eternal religion and culture of janjati communities. He worked as an Associate Professor in JNU and also at the Manipur University. He was National Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla where he produced a remarkable book titled History of Manipur in three volumes. He has authored over a dozen books and
presented over a hundred research papers.
He was also president of Zeliangrong Peoples Convention (ZPC) and worked hard for Zeliangrong integration under guidance of Padma Bhushan Rani Gaidinliu. He was closely associated with the Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, RSS, VHP and a host of other socio-cultural organisations in the north-east region and at the national level. He was a patron of Janjati Dharm Sanskriti Suraksha Manch, Janjati Faith and Culture Protection Forum,
north-east region. Padma Bhushan Rani Gaidinliu blessed him as her son and he fulfilled her aspirations by successfully leading TRC, Zeliangrong Heraka Organisation and ZPC which worked for Zeliangrong integration.
He was a bed rock of nationalist movements in insurgency ridden Naga society and North-east region and a strong link of the chain of patriotic people and nationalist socio-cultural movements. As close associate of Pou NC Zeliang, President of Zeliangrong Heraka Organisation, North-east Bharat, Prof Kamei was a personal friend of Vasantrao Bhatta and K Bhaskar Rao of Kalyan Ashram, HV Seshadri and Shri KS Sudarshanji, etc.
