Doing is very good, but that comes from thinking… Fill the brain, therefore with high thoughts, highest ideals, place them day and night before you, and out of that will come great work.

Faithful Dog #Kelsey Saves Injured Owner
Bob went outside on New Year’s Eve to get more firewood when he slipped and injured his neck. Unable to move, he could do nothing but lay on the ground in twenty four degree weather. Kelsey, Bob’s Golden Retriever, lay on top of his arms and legs to keep him warm. After she stayed on top of her owner for a full day, Bob fell unconscious. One hour later, he was found by a neighbour who came by the house to borrow some eggs. “The last thing he remembers saying is telling Kelsey that he was so sorry, that he tried as hard as he could to stay alive,” Bob’s daughter Jenny told KCRA. Bob was rushed into neurosurgery and successfully saved. Medical officials say that if it wasn’t for Kelsey, Bob wouldn’t have made it.

UK #GoGreen: More Power from Wind than Coal
More electricity was generated from wind in the UK than from coal last year, according to new research by Carbon Brief. The milestone is a first for the UK and reflects a decline in the generation of coal, which contributed just 9.2 per cent of UK electricity last year while 11.5 per cent came from wind. Coal output fell to its lowest level here since 1935. Carbon Brief also estimate that CO2 emissions from UK power generation fell by around 20 per cent in 2016, as coal was largely replaced by lower-emissions gas. The organisation’s research has been revealed ahead of estimates from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy which are expected on March  30. “This reduction will be enough to cut overall UK CO2 emissions by six per cent for the year, if other sectors’ emissions are unchanged,” said a  spokesperson for Carbon Brief.

Study Shows #ChairYoga is Effective Arthritic Treatment

For the millions of older adults who suffer from osteoarthritis in their lower extremities (hip, knee, ankle or foot), chair yoga is proving to be an effective way to reduce pain and improve quality of life while avoiding pharmacologic treatment or adverse events. A new study, conducted by researchers at Florida Atlantic University, is the first randomised controlled trial to examine the effects of chair yoga on pain and physical function in older adults with osteoarthritis. For the study, researchers randomly assigned 131 older adults with osteoarthritis to either a chair yoga programme or a health education program. Results from the study found that participants in the chair yoga group, compared to those in the health education program, showed a greater reduction in pain and pain interference during their sessions, and that
reduction in pain interference lasted for about three months after the 8-week chair yoga programme was completed.

Mall Opens Doors for #StrayDogs
Despite the heavy snow pummeling Istanbul this weekend, the city’s stray dogs were safe and snug thanks to a generous local mall that opened its doors to the homeless pups. Turkish volunteers at the Atrium Mall in the Bakirkoy neighborhood gave the hounds warm blankets and food during the storm. One of the volunteers, a woman named Hayvansever Ece Öçal, told CNN that even though her heart ached for the homeless pooches, “all of us, if we help as much as we can, can make sure that stray animals are taken care of.”

A few years ago when Raahul Khadaliya read an article about traditional block printers from Kutch, Gujarat, throwing their tools into the river. They were unable to keep up with the rising competition. Though the alternatives were cheaper, they didn't match the artisans' products in quality or detailing. In a small attempt towards preserving ancient crafts and traditions while being responsible about the way we produce goods, Raahul started Studio ABCD in 2011, a design company which also provides services and solutions to clients. “I realised that Indian clients were unwilling to invest too deeply into making the service sustainable as it inflates the cost of the project. That's when I started Second Life (a part of ABCD), so that I could create products and services that serve a dual purpose — achieving sustainability and generating money,” he said.
Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines in All Government Colleges in #Haryana

With a view to promote menstrual health of women and adolescent girls by ensuring availability of quality sanitary napkins, the Haryana Government has decided to install automated sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerators in all government colleges in the state. “The vending machines were being installed to ensure an effective and convenient mode for any time access to the sanitary napkins. The purpose is to promote safe and hygienic sanitary practices among the women and girls,” stated in an official release quoting a spokesman of the Higher Education Department. The spokesman said it was observed that in view of social taboo associated with sanitary napkins, a majority of the girls or women feel embarrassed and hesitate to go to the commonly known, manned and often crowded conventional or medicine outlets for sanitary napkins resulting in unsafe practices and use of unhygienic materials during the menstrual period.
