Report/Bengal :Jehadi Frenzy, Yet Again

The plight of Hindus in West Bengal continues to be grave. As Jehadis enjoy the  patronage of Mamata, will ‘seculars’ of Bharat ever speak against frenzied Islamists?

Jishnu Basu from Kolkata
Dhulagarhi, near Howrah, is well connected with NH-6 and merely 28 km away from the State Capital of Bengal. What happened there from December 12 to 16, is nothing but the same old story continuing from 1905, as a ploy of the British to divide and rule. From last many years Hindus in every part of West Bengal, are suffering from bi-effects of extreme Muslim appeasement, protection by State Government, first seeded by the successive Communist governments and now nurtured by Mamata. Interestingly, after the outburst from organisations and political party like BJP, the ‘seculars’ even tried to defend the Jehadists.

On December 12, 2016 Bengal CM wished Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi day through  an advertisement in all the lead news papers in the state holding, “Hazrat Muhammad is the torchbearer of World peace, Justice and Human
welfare”. On December 13, Muslim organisations had organised a massive rally on the occasion of Milad-ul-Nabi at Dhulagarhi. Contrary to the message of peace, most of the people in Rally were equipped with many lethal weapons like bombs, pistols, rods, Swords etc. While passing through Annapurna club at Shibtalla, this rally turned violent and furious mob. On objection from locals, they started hurling bombs, firing through pistols, looted 11 shops and burnt them. Though the locals had called for the precautionary action from police, they arrived late, by then enough damage had done.

These developments happening in Bengal are not accidental. The increasing communal frenzy environment and ‘Pakistan-like’ plight of Hindus is the clear result of deadly nexus of Communist turned Trinamool workers and Jehadists, as obvious from the following instances:

  • The Jamat-e-Islami leader Siddikullah Chowdhury who had organised a massive rally at Bardhwan in support of Jehadists involved in a bomb-blast is a prominent face in Mamata government now.
  • Firhad Haqim who is the Bengal Urban Development Minister, allegedly said, “Please come along and let us take you to mini-Pakistan in Kolkata,” to a Dawn reporter Maleeha Hamid
  • Siddiqui as she was trailing him on a campaign rally in Garden Reach.
  • The main culprit in South 24 Pargana riots of 2012, Ahmed Hassan Imran, is nominated to the upper house of the Parliament by TMC.
  • More than 1000 illegal Madarssas have been legalised by this regime; Illegal Bangladeshi migrants are openly taking shelters in these, resulting in incidents like Bardwan blasts.
  • In October 2016, one Indrajit Dutta was brutally killed while forcefully collecting ransom in the name of Muharram procession.
  • In October 2016 itself, High Court rapped the State government for a draconian directive regarding postponement of the Durga Puja
    immersion due to Muharram.

What happened at Dulagarhi is not new to Bengal. Malda is still in the national memory. The forthcoming
consequences were expected not only for the locals but also for the police. Like previous instances, on the evening of December 13, the loudspeakers of every Mosques of this region were shouting the ‘Jehadi’ slogans and asking Muslims to fight against Hindu to protect Islam. When public reached out to the local, they were deaf and non-reactive.
On December 14, Wednesday from 10am, Muslims mobs again resorted to violence in many areas of Sankrail and Panchla Assembly area. The same trend picked up in Dhulagarhi, Shibtala, Paschim Para, Deunghata, Banergee Pole, and Jairampur. More than 80 houses were looted, burnt and charged with bombs. Out of these, 42 houses are from Banerjee Pole area alone. The whole region changed into cremation ground. More than 100 shops in the region were looted and burnt. Half a dozen of vehicles were burned and a whole cycle garage was looted. Many women were molested. In Bardwan, under Katva police station, chopped legs of a cow were found in a Shani Temple of Panughat Das Pada village. When locals went to register a
complaint against the suspects, Iqbal Sheikh, Firoz Sheikh, Billal Sheikh and Mor Sheikh, police refused to register the FIR. The helpless and poor Hindus, mostly from SC community did not get the much needed protection from police.
More than 500 Hindus, most of which comes from the ‘Dalit’ community have been severely affected. Only local people are arranging relief camps as per their capacity to provide them support of food and shelter. Many students who have their Board exams in the coming months, small shopkeepers who have lost
everything are seeing their future in dark. Somnath Debnath S/o Aabir Debnath R/o Banerjee Pole is one of the most affected. His house is completely destroyed and lost property of worth 40 lakh
approximately. Ratan Mandal S/o Vishvanath Mandal R/o Jairampur of Panchla P S has lost his house, shop
and a vehicle (Tata magic Reg No
WB12C-3990) in this  act. The same is the plight of more than 40 house holders who have lost their shelters completely. Due to inertness and non-responsiveness of state govtrnment and local
administration the Hindus have been
surrounded in environment of extreme fear and insecurity. Is West Bengal
capable of saving rights and existence of Hindus? What are the future prospects of Hindus here? Will ‘secular’ and ‘human rights’ voices speak against this ghastly and barbaric act in the name of religion? These are the questions that are haunting the common Hindus in Bengal.
Some organisations are trying to raise these issues after the the event. The Hindu community stated protest and demonstration against local police and state government on December 14 which continued till December 16. Highlighting the huge deplorable situation in law and order situations and communal attacks on Hindus by Jehadi groups in various parts of West Bengal, the state unit of BJP has observed “Save Democracy Day” on December 21, throughout the State. A huge numbers of BJP supporters and Hindu victims came to the streets to make the day observation successful. On this day of proclaiming democracy for both the victims of political and communal line, the state BJP condemned the attacks on their party workers on political line and the recent attacks on Hindus Katwa, Rampurhat and Bagnan, sankrail and Dhulagarh.
The state BJP unit observed the increase of such attacks only after the “Stone pelting provocation on State President of BJP Dilip Ghosh” by an Islamic mentor of TMC, none other than Nurur Rehman Barkati, the infamous Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque of Kolkata. Though some state BJP affiliates and supporters lodged FIR against Barkati in some police stations, the State police under direct control of Mamata Banerjee did not take any action against the fanatic Imam.
In a press conference in Kolkata on December 21, the senior Central BJP leader and state observer Siddharth Nath Singh directly hit at the State CM for her indulgence for such communal attacks on the Hindus by the Jehadi and communal elements within TMC.
In various video clippings circulated in social media it is divulged that the victims named TMC leader Gulshan Mallik and Muslims cadres of ruling party as the conspirator and perpetrators for the attacks on Hindus of Bagnan, Sankrail and Dhulagarh. Even the Muslims in TMC proceeded in arm wielding mob through Hindus areas in the name of ‘Peace Procession’ to frighten the local Hindus.
Overall, the communal frenzy atmosphere in the state has created the atmosphere of fear, unrest and
instability for Hindus due to increasing Islamic extremism in the region. It appears that Muslims have started an undeclared Jehad against the Hindus in the state. State administration and police have turned their eyes blind towards such incidents resulting in increased
frequencies, intensity and area of such atrocities against Hindus.
