Bengaluru: Showcasing the service activities of various Karnataka based socio-religious organisations, the 5-day mega Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair-2016 concluded on December 18 at National College Grounds. Pujya Shri Basavamurthy Madara Chennayya Swamiji, Pujya Shri Ma Ni Pra Basavananda Swamiji, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sewa Pramukh Shri Gunwant Singh Kothari, eminent orator and columnist Shri Chakravarti Sulibele addressed the concluding ceremony.
The fair was visited by nearly three lakh visitors. A total of 258 socio-religious institutions from 16 districts of Karnataka and also from 8 different states set up their stalls in the second edition of the fair. In the morning, impressive Yoga performance was held by Isha Foundation. In Kutumba Vandana, about 1,000 people from undivided families gathered and the elder most member of the family was offered special respects. Pujya Sugunendra Swamiji of Puttige Math Udupi, former Additional Director, Department of Education, Government of Karnataka Shri TN Prabhakar stressed on the value of family in one’s life.
On December 17, Bhoomi Vandana was held to imbue the spirit of ecological conservation and sustaining environment. About 4,000 farmers, including 1,000 farmer couples,
attended the event. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Samyojak of Kutum Prabodhan Shri Kajampady Subramanya Bhat, noted organic farming expert Dr AS Anand, eminent environmentalist Dr AN Yellappa Reddy and former IFS officer Shri Sadashivayya addressed the gathering.
In order to foster women’s honour and pay emotional salute to motherhood, Matri Vandana was held on third day. Nearly 3,000 women participated in the event. Pujya Shri Siddhaganga Swamiji of Siddhaganga Matha of Tumakuru, well known
orator and founder of Vibha Foundation Dr VB Arati addressed the gathering. On second day i.e. December 15, a special youth event, Rashtra Vandana, was held in which nearly 4,000 college students participated. Pujya Shri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math and RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sanyojak of Kutumba Prabodhan Shri Su Ramanna addressed the
gathering. The fair was inaugurated on December 14 by former ISRO chief Dr Kasturirangan, Pujya Veereshananda Swamiji of Ramakrishna Ashrama Tumakuru, Pujya Shri Bante Varajyoti Swamiji of Bidar, Shri Shri Gyani Darbar Singh of Gurudwar Bidar. Prior to the inauguration, a walkathon was held from Dodda Ganapati Temple to National College Grounds.
‘Sewa and Spirituality are Complementary’
Bhubaneshwar: Odisha’s Hindu Service and Spiritual fair began on December 15 at Barmunda. Prior to the
inaugural ceremony, a Kalash Yatra was held from Sri Ram Mandir to Barmunda with the traditional musical instruments and fascinating tableau. Inaugurating the fair, Gajpati Maharaj Divya Sahdev of Puri said both spirituality and sewa are complementary. On second day of the fair, Kanya Pujan was held. RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Pradeep Joshi participated in the Kanya Pujan. About 600 girls were worshiped by boys with flowers, earthen lamps and sandal pastes. “Modern values impacted by western education may not give due importance to girls, women and motherhood, but we have to uphold our tradition of praying women to protect our families, society and economic standards,” said Dr Kabita Ratha. Apart from Kanya Pujan, Vriksha Pujan, Gaupujan, Vaitarni Pujan were also held.
Dr Nagesh Thakur and Vinay Bidre elected ABVP president & Gen Sec respectively
Mumbai: Dr Nagesh Thakur and Shri Vinay Bidre were re-elected as national president and national general secretary of ABVP for the next consecutive year 2016-17. The announcement was made by returning officer Prof P Muralimanohar on December 15. The term of both the newly elected office bearers will be for one year. They will take charge of their responsibilities at 62nd National Conference of the ABVP on December 24 in Indore.
Since his student life Dr Nagesh Thakur has played a decisive role in student movement. After completing his PhD in physics from Himachal University, he works as Professor in the same university. Shri Bidre hails from Bidre village of Tumkur District in Karnataka and has been in the contact of ABVP since 1998. He holds Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Journalism. He has served as president of the student union of Tumkur College and also served as Karnataka’s State secretary and national secretary. He has played an important role in resolving many educational problems of students in Karnataka.
EN Nandakumar in NBT Executive
New Delhi: The Union Government has appointed Shri EN Nandakumar as executive member of the National Book Trust (NBT). He has also been appointed as the member of the Board of Trustees of NBT. Veterans like Maman Mathew (Malayala Manorama Group) and poet Sachidanandan were the Keralites appointed to these
positions in the past. Shri Nandakumar has been working as general manager of Kurukshethra Prakashan since the last 23 years.
RK Viswajit to be honoured with Yeshwantrao Kelkar Youth Award
Mumbai: Shri RK Viswajit Singh of Manipur was selected for Prof Yeshwantrao Kelkar Youth Award-2016. His selection was done in recognition of his pioneering work in ‘fighting against drug-addiction among youth and HIV/AIDS through regular exercise and maintaining good
moral character through spiritual engagement. The Award is a collaborative activity of the ABVP and ‘Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust. Shri Viswajit will be felicitated on December 24 during the inauguration of 62nd National Conference of ABVP in Indore. The idea behind the Award is to encourage young social workers, engaged in various social welfare activities and to offer them a platform, thereby to motivate other youth for social work and to express gratitude to young social workers. The Award comprises of Rs 50,000 cash, certificate and a memento. Shri Viswajit is a physical fitness trainer and an award-winning social activist.
Short Film Festival by Samachara Bharati
Hyderabad: Samachara Bharati Cultural Association organised ‘Kakatiya Film Festival’, a short film festival on the theme Ek Bharat, Samaras Bharat on December 17. Shri Raj Kandukuri Garu on this occasion disclosed that he plans to introduce at least one short film-maker per
year into the mainstream movies.
Sangh functionary Dr Annadanam Subramaniam Garu spoke about the important role that the short film makers have in spreading positive thoughts, ideas and building a positive Bharat.
The movie titled ‘Behind the Smile’ that subtly dealt with problems faced by girl students due to lack of toilets in schools directed by M Shankar Raju won the first prize. Shri Shiv Kumar bagged the second prize for ‘Gurukulam’ that highlighted the importance of application of education rather than mere marks oriented education. Shri Durga Prasad Chinni won third prize for heart touching portrayal of a dumb man working as a chaiwala who saves tips earned to support education of poor children in his village. A short film, ‘Rythu’, in which a student despite being highly qualified chooses to become a farmer won accolades from jury and bagged special prize. Another short film ‘Addilu’ received special accolades from the jury.
Workshop on Vision Document for AP
Itanagar: A day long workshop on Vision Document for Arunachal Pradesh was conducted by Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) at State Banquet Hall on December 17. A total of 48 scholars from different walks of life joined the workshop. Vice president of AVP Shri Techi Gubin welcomed the delegates while Executive Director Research Institute for Worlds Ancient Traditions, Culture and Heritage (RIWATCH) Shri Vijay Swami briefed about the methodology adopted for the workshop at national, North-East and State level.
Elaborating the idea of developing the Vision Document Dr Joram Begi informed that a national level seminar on Vision Document was organised in Mumbai in 2015 and later it was held on North-East level at Guwahati, where retired bureaucrats, social workers and Janjati leaders participated. He emphasised on finalising the number of Janjati communities in the State, implementing the development vision on the basis of area wise Janjati
population, their literacy rate, economic conditions, topography, opportunities, local customs and natural resources. He cautioned the participants about the alarming position of demographic change in the State—less percentage of Janajti population in some districts like Dibang, Lohit, and Changlang. He
suggested to evolve a policy to curb it. Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University Prof Tamo Mibang appreciated the initiative and appealed all to contribute their ideas in
developing the document for all-round development of the State. Applauding the contribution of voluntary organisations like Vivekananda Kendra, Sewa Bharati and AVP he said it must be recognised by the State government and the local people. People should learn to serve the nation selflessly, he emphasised. The workshop had sector wise parallel sessions on different issues like social, economic, infrastructure development and governance. The scholars gave substantial suggestions on different topics like education, health, skill development, administration, reservation policies,
customary laws, land reforms, forest rights, dams, border area development, road connectivity, natural resources, agro-horticulture prospects, micro finance, biodiversity, etc. Smt Indra Mallo Tana, Secretary RD, hoped that the endeavour would be beneficial for all and the State government would incorporate it in its developmental plans.
Tribute to Pa Togan Nengminza Sangma
Tura: Eminent freedom fighter of Meghalaya Pa Togan Nengminza Sangma was paid rich tribute on his 144th death anniversary on December 12. The programme was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life including MLA from Karbi Anglong Shri Numol Momin, Shri Pranjal Saikia, president of the Organising Committee Shri Dilas Marak, Shri Bhupendra Hajong and Shri Bernard N Marak. Shri N Sangma (MDC), Shri Isamail Marak (MDC), Shri Kurosh Marak (MDC), president of All India Hajong Welfare Association Mahiram Hajong, vice president of Meghalaya Hajong Welfare Association Shri Anil Hajong, former MLA Shri Nidhuram Hajong, BJP secretary Shri Pramod Koch and former MDC Shri Ranjit Rabha were also present. The function was also attended by Shri Shamananda Brahmachari of Barkona Ashram. Garo Hills witnessed first of its kind programme as thousands of people from all over the region including Garos, Rabhas, Hajongs, Koch, Nepalis, Bengalis and all other communities assembled at Tura. People even from remote areas turned up. A Garo traditional calendar was also released. People took out a procession in a ceremonious manner from Chandmari field to Captain William point at Hawakhana with a portrait of Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma.
Experience the wonder of Neurotheraphy
New Delhi: RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal released a book on neurotherapy at Hindi Bhavan on December 15. The book titled Neurotherapy Dwara Swastha Jeevan, has been written by yoga, meditation and neuropathy expert Shri Ramgopal Dixit. The book has been published by Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi.
Dr Krishna Gopal said neuropathy has been in practice in Bharat since thousands of years, but the people are not aware of its scientific nature. Shri Lajpat Rai Mehra, through deep study and practice, developed its scientific form. He said many critical cases have been cured by Shri Mehra through this method. His said the human body
functions through the nerves connected with the brain. All parts of the body whether liver, kidney, stomach,
pancreas, gall bladder, urinary system or any other are connected through the nerves. If there is any disorder in the body it is due to any fault in the nerve system. That is why Shri Mehra cures the nerves. He developed a proper method for this cure—how to and when to massage the nerve or body parts, etc. “I have experienced the impact of this therapy when I was in north-east. It is wonderful treatment which cures the disease fully. I personally followed the tips given by Shri Mehra to cure my knee problems. Now I am all right,” Dr Krishna Gopal said while calling upon the participants to learn this method and share with others to make India a healthy nation.
Salute to Brave Soldiers of 1971 War
Faridabad: Serve India Foundation organised an event on December 16 to remember the valour of the Indian
soldiers, who defeated Pakistan Army during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and former Army Chief Gen. VK Singh presided over the function. Shri Nitish Bhardwaj, who played the role of Sri Krishna in Mahabharata serial, and RSS National Executive Member Shri Indresh Kumar were also present. Speaking on the occasion Shri Indresh Kumar said the guarantee of safety, freedom and development that the citizens enjoy is because of the sacrifices made by the soldiers. All the brave soldiers should be paid proper respect. He called upon the people to hoist tri-colour in the memory of the brave soldiers.
Gen. VK Singh said the Indian soldiers created history on December 16, 1971 when they forced 93,000 Pakistan soldiers to surrender. Such a victory should be observed at all levels of the society so that the new generation has patriotic feeling. Shri Nitish Bhardwaj said the nation would move forward only through the good deeds.
